Policy Analyst

 The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV), and its sister organization, the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (EFSGV), are among the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention organizations. Through policy development, research translation, advocacy, community engagement, and effective training, we pursue evidence-based solutions to reduce gun death and injury in all its forms. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Policy Analyst will work closely with the Policy and Programming team. Specifically, the Policy Analyst will:

• Support the Policy and Programming team on executing strategies to enact and implement evidence-based policy priorities;
• Provide public health research and policy support to Policyand Programming Team
• Assist with creating and maintaining resources, fact sheets, memos, reports, etc.;
• Assist the State Affairs Manager with priority policy bill tracking and coordination;
• Compile, read, and analyze new research on gun violence;
• Draft and update content on the EFSGV web site;
• Utilize CDC firearm fatality data for a myriad of projects for internal and external audiences;
• Summarize and track federal and state gun violence prevention bills;
• Maintain subject matter knowledge of GVP policies and laws; and
• Perform other related responsibilities, as assigned, to support the policy team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate degree (prefer degree in public health, public policy, or similar program);
• Experience developing, advocating for  and implementing policy policy;
• Strong passion for preventing gun violence;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Strong research and analytic skills;
• Experience interpreting data and research;
• Ability to work independently; and
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
