PURPOSE  

The Development Assistant provides support to the Development department at Friends of Youth, including maintaining the donor database, donation processing and acknowledgements, assisting with fundraising campaigns and events, and assisting with donor relations activities. 

  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

  • Work in close collaboration with the Senior Development Managers on their cultivation of donor development strategies, including preparing, monitoring, and ensuring the appropriate communication and follow-up occurs with donors and major gift prospects. 
  • Assist the Senior Development Managers in the production and distribution of appeals, mailing, solicitations, thank you letters, and other communications related to campaigns and donor events. 
  • Maintain accurate donor records and donor database. 
  • Support donor relations, including donor stewardship and customer service. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of all gifts, including online contributions, matching gifts, event donations, credit card batches, and in-kind gifts. 
  • Work regularly with the Finance department to generate reports necessary for general ledger reconciliation, audit preparation, tax return preparation, data analysis, budgets and grant preparation and reporting. 
  • Assist the Development team with preparation, execution, and wrap-up of successful events. 
  • Coordinate registration for events, including processing registrations and coordinating day-of registrations.  

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • 2+ years of development experience, including maintaining databases, preparing prospect materials and/or supporting special events. 
  • Experience and proficiency with MS Word, Outlook and Excel. 
  • Raiser’s Edge database experience strongly preferred. 
  • Experience working or volunteering in a nonprofit environment preferred. 

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS  

$21 - $26 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Friends of Youth offers a competitive benefits package that includes:

LOCATION & SCHEDULE 

Office location is in Kirkland, WA; this position is remote with occasional on-site presence required. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm. Friends of Youth will provide the necessary equipment and resources for the Development Assistant.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT  

  • Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.   
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).   
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. 
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with requirements.
