The Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN) was founded in 1994 by local activists to build a more fair and just Nevada that puts people and planet first. We organize with front line communities and directly impacted leaders to fight for policy change and community investments that improve people’s lives. Since 1994, our organization has grown from 12 original founding member groups to a current membership of more than 30 groups. Position Overview:

PLAN’s Digital Strategy Manager will assist in managing and leading the Communications and Digital department as we strive to uplift the work of our organization, the story of our leaders, and the change we want to see in our communities. As a Digital Strategy Manager, you will assist in the planning and implementation of a digital and social media strategy utilizing various digital tools and ad campaigns.
Nevada has long been subjected to governance that prioritizes business interests over the people. That’s why PLAN has been organizing since 1994 to take on the mining industry and fight for LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, and worker rights. Digital Strategy Managers will work alongside our diverse member groups, and statewide and national coalitions to tip the balance of power.

Duties and Responsibilities:
PLAN’s Digital Strategy Program Manager will:
Responsibilities include:
1. Support PLAN/PLAN Action program development (Approx. 40% FTE)
- Support the Communication Director, communication fellows with organizing and strategy, working closely with the Communication Director to identify opportunities to further our strategic objectives.
- Support and own some of the development of strategic activities to advance organizing goals, including developing digital communications plans, paid ad campaigns, and digital actions
- Own the management of the organization’s global social media presence across all social channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and YouTube to help build strong story centric narrative.
- Partner with Program Managers to leverage connections across different programs, including intersecting projects, campaigns, and policies, to align program priorities and narratives with overall organizational goals and mission.
- Provide high-level strategic advice to the Communications Director on digital developments including long-term strategy, growth, narrative development, and opportunities for digital interventions.
- Support Communications fellows to: meet and exceed campaign goals and metrics; sharpen digital skills and political education; develop as leaders and strategic thinkers. This will require regular check ins, coaching, and support of fellows
2. Campaign Development and Leader Engagement (Approx. 30% FTE)
- Work closely with the Communications Director and organizing teams to support campaign planning and strategy across core organizing priorities: immigration, civic engagement, environmental justice, and economic justice,
- Engage in member groups and leadership spaces including (when possible) weekly team meetings, monthly leader meetings and trainings
- Support the Organizing Team’s long-term strategic planning on how PLAN and our member groups can use strategic organizing, leadership development, and civic engagement to build a more fair and just Nevada
3. Represent PLAN externally in organizing related relationships (Approx. 20% FTE)
- Representing PLAN and/or PLAN Action on organizing tables and with foundation partners supporting specific program work related to their program
- Represent PLAN and PLAN Action externally and further relationships with a variety of decision makers and stakeholders including, but not limited to: PLAN Member groups, labor unions, environmental, immigrant, Black liberation, LGBTQ, social justice, and feminist organizations, and key political and organizing tables.
- Participate in meetings and networks to advance organizing, especially those that advance PLAN or PLAN Action’s long term vision for a more fair and just Nevada that puts people and planet first
4. Participate in PLAN team (10%)
- Utilize PLAN and PLAN’s Actions platforms to ensure flow of information and completion of tasks, accuracy of records, reporting requirements are met, and usage of systems that support the operations of PLAN and PLAN Action. At this time that includes: Google applications, Quickbooks T-Sheets, Asana, Zoom, and Slack
- Maintain and manage personal and organization’s main calendar in coordination with project calendars to support the coordination of organization-wide operations.
- Active and timely response on all communications (email, phone, messaging apps) during work hours
- Attend and actively participate in regular meetings with staff, team, member groups, leaders, and allies.
- Participate in and support preparation for monthly staff meetings, bimonthly member group meetings, annual member group retreats, and other events as necessary.
- Compliance with PLAN/PLAN Action remote working policies and procedures (calendaring, availability online, response time to communications, receipts, etc.)
Qualifications/Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok
- Knowledge and understanding of planning and executing a paid digital ad campaign
- Demonstrated experience in digital, social media, and communications
- Working knowledge of Canva
- Experience in video editing and working knowledge of video editing software and platforms
- Experience in graphic design is preferred
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged!
- Ability to think creatively and execute the vision
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups and people
- Self-motivated, independent, willing to work long, flexible hours and meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced working environment
- Knowledge of, or interest in, local and social justice organizations and/or the progressive issues
- Strong commitment to social and racial justice
- Knowledge or ability to learn of digital and design tools such as Sprout, Meltwater, Canva, and Salsalabs, or similar
- Knowledge of Video production/editing, graphic design, and a working knowledge of Adobe Design Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere is preferred
- Demonstrate previous experience with communities of color/successful campaign
Working Conditions:
Position will be mainly working from home, with the ability to work in PLAN’s Las Vegas or Reno offices and there will be some required in-person events. When working from the office or to work in person events, PLAN requires vaccination, as well as following COVID-19 protocols.
For qualified applicants, the selection process will include a zoom interview with PLAN’s Communications Director. A skills assessment may be necessary for the top candidates. The final candidate will meet with executive leadership before receiving an offer letter.
