The Manager of Partnerships and Economic Opportunities will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and engaging with sector-based and employer partnerships to advance practices and policies that achieve better outcomes for employers and workers. The position leads the work solutions portfolio, which includes project design, partnership development, communication, technical assistance, supportive services, coordination of related consultants and other critical relationships. Provides key oversight to include employer engagement to build long-standing relationships to advance JobsFirstNYC’s employer-driven and sector-based strategies, coordination and delivery of public engagements and public interface. The Manager provides strategic, forward-looking/thinking cultivation and management of the organization’s work solutions strategies as it relates to economic opportunities, employer community partnership cultivation, and with a dual focus on expanding engagement with the public and private sectors and promoting sustainable economic practices in order to accelerate and advance JobsFirstNYC’s goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

Work Solutions/Emerging Initiatives

  • Develop, lead and manage work solutions partnerships, employer and partnership engagement, and the implementation of organization-wide work solutions and related emerging initiatives.
  • Identify and develop resources related to partnership, employer engagement, and related strategic work solutions initiatives.
  • Assist with creating related procedures and communication strategy, document and report on activities and progress, and direct technical assistance as needed.
  • Develop strategic engagement activities targeted at tapping the skills and interest of employers, engaging employers by industries, and increasing meaningful interaction between employers and the public workforce development system.
  • Cultivate key business leadership partnerships in the New York City economy in order to secure and mobilize champions that will support and advance JobsFirstNYC’s mission.
  • Identify and track economic development and market-demand job trends, changes and practices, industry changes and in-demand skills, and aggregate and share information needed to inform education, training, and relevant organizational strategy and policy recommendations.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with work solutions and technical assistance consultants to manage timely and cost-effective work deliverables.
  • Acts as liaison between emerging work solutions initiatives and constituent members.

Partner/Community Engagement

  • Develop partnerships and collaborate with local labor unions, employer associations, Chambers of Commerce and other employer-driven groups to leverage resources and strengthen the organization’s presence amongst employers.
  • Oversee and facilitate constituent activities including the Job Developers’ Networking Events and other related employment events that support the organizations Work Solution initiatives.
  • Develop or assist with the development and standardization of partnerships outcomes matrix.
  • Provide technical assistance around engaging employers and employment placements to projects and programs supported by the organization.
  • Develop or assist with the development and standardization of initiatives outcomes matrix.

Policy/Communication/Product Development

  • Draft original papers; write opinion pieces for the media, and JobsFirstNYC’s newsletter and blog.
  • Coordinate with research, writing, advocacy and communication team to maintain partnership and community projects schedules and publications timelines/deadlines.
  • Seek and foster new opportunities for product development.

Qualifications: Minimum of a BA, MA in a relevant discipline preferred. Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in economic development and/or employer cultivation engagement to include corporate recruiting, human resources, and career development. Strong knowledge of the New York City workforce and economic development systems. Exemplary written and verbal communications skills, and relationship management skills.
