Temporary Events and Advocacy Associate

The part-time Temporary Events and Advocacy Associate will support logistical coordination for upcoming CCR Advocacy events, including a series on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and the opening of Guantanamo, outreach to partner organizations in preparation for Black History Month, as well as research and outreach to allied public and cultural institutions. The person in this position will also perform key administrative tasks for the advocacy team, as necessary.

 

 

Responsibilities

Supporting the Advocacy team and working with relevant Communications, Legal, and Development staff, the Associate will support the implementation of Advocacy public programs and events by:

  • Researching and assessing appropriate event venues, making site visits as directed, booking event spaces, and acting as liaison with venue and vendors
  • Researching and liaising with vendors, making arrangements for speakers and entertainment
  • Coordinating the preparation of outreach/promotional and other informational/educational materials for events in collaboration and consultation with relevant staff
  • Coordinating the promotion of events through emails, website postings, alerts, public ads, etc.; supporting the coordination of onsite event production, including arranging, training and managing
  • Tracking and submitting event finances including review of invoices and preparation of check requests, including honorariums
  • Liaising with language and disability justice partners, including ASL interpreters, translators, and transcribers
  • Coordinating webinars, livestreaming and AV/tech as needed, and following up with attendees after events
  • Facilitating speaker requests for program staff
  • Managing and updating organizational events calendar, including uploading event descriptions to the Center for Constitutional Rights website; monitoring the events email account and adding events to the organization’s Biweekly Report
  • Working with staff as directed to ensure updating of databases of supporters, NGO partners, event attendees
  • Additional related administrative tasks in support of the advocacy team, as directed by the Advocacy Director

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience, strong preference for event planning experience, including virtual events
  • A belief in the mission of the Center for Constitutional Rights, demonstrated commitment to social justice issues, and comfort working in a progressive legal and/or non-profit environment 
  • Familiarity with the issues central to the Center for Constitutional Rights’ work
  • Strong written and oral communications skills and messaging instincts
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, proven ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities under tight deadlines 
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as member of a team
  • Integrity, grace under pressure, and sense of humor

Salary is commensurate with experience and subject to union collective bargaining agreement.
