ROLE

Repair the World is hiring a full-time Operations Manager. The position will function as a key coordination and support role in the Operations Department and will report to the Senior Director of Operations. The role is located at Repair’s national office in New York. The successful Operations Manager will demonstrate the vision and follow-through to get a wide range of operations work from A to B to Z, balancing independent action with collaboration as the organization grows nationally.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Management and Systems:
  • Simultaneously manage moving pieces of multiple projects and ensure tasks are completed by Operations Associate and other relevant staff.
  • Create systems to automate organizational processes and streamline workflows for national and city staff
  • Develop and manage organizational memory and socialize new systems among staff in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Communities Support and Logistics
  • Support Fellowship Director by overseeing Applicant Tracking System, participating in admissions interviews, and independently overseeing entire Fellow Onboarding program.
  • Manage and delegate logistics for 55+ staff, fellows, and guest educators, overseeing all operations and logistics for biannual fellowship retreats.
  • Liaise with City Directors and local coordinators to ensure they have the resources they need, and proactively implement solutions to eliminate operational bottlenecks and “fire drills.”
  • Write and edit Fellowship documents, e.g. Fellow Handbook, contracts, FAQ’s, admissions docs, etc., liaising with Communications Manager and Fellowship Director. Prepare regular e-blasts to Fellows.
  • Organizational Expansion and Change:
  • Take initiative to recommend, plan, implement, execute, and socialize changes to automate and optimize operational processes and staff/fellow support systems.
  • Work cross-functionally to build scalable systems as the organization expands. Approach each project with an eye towards future needs; proactively anticipate and avert challenges associated with organizational growth.
  • Technology: Order and maintain technology inventory; liaise with IT service provider. Help evaluate and determine technology priorities based on need and budget constraints.
  • HR: Project-manage hiring and onboarding for new employees, maintain up-to-date employee handbook, contribute to strategy and development of compensation and benefit policies. Conduct candidate screening interviews for some roles.
  • Other tasks: As a relatively small nonprofit, we collaborate to get work across the finish line. This role (like all roles at Repair) will occasionally require stepping in to support colleagues, e.g. to help out with finance and human resources tasks as requested.


CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion and vision for the way effective operations facilitate social justice work
  • Creative problem-solver with great instincts, able to anticipate and solve problems independently, and follow through on projects to completion
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the functional areas, such as IT, HR, and/or Program Operations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
  • Ability to collect, analyze/synthesize data, and present it clearly
  • Strong organizational and time management skills (detail-oriented, conscientious, and self-motivated)
  • Strong technology skills, including basic Mac computer set-up and comfort with Google products (e.g. Drive, Docs, Sheets)
  • Ambition, eagerness to learn, humility

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice
  • Flexibility, good humor, and eagerness to work in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Understanding of and positive perspective toward data management
  • HR experience (recruiting, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, HR systems and data management) or strong knowledge of HR best practices

Our starting salary for this role is $60,000 if you have 3-4 years of relevant experience. If you have more than that, let’s talk.
