Educational Program Specialist

LNESC is currently seeking an Educational Program Specialist to run our Middle School OST Program while simultaneously assisting students in our high school programs reach their secondary and post-secondary goals.

Job Duties

Student Recruitment

  • Conduct in class presentations about LNESC middle school and high school Programs
  • Recruit students in high schools and middle schools for LNESC Programs
  • Provide students with LNESC Program Applications for middle school and high school programs.

Middle School Services:

  • Create and Implement monthly lesson plans for middle school students related to STEM, Reading, Writing
  • Create STEM Project Based Learning activities for students
  • Implement lesson plans and activities daily
  • Assist students with homework daily
  • Assist with maintaining LNESC library
  • Coordinate guest speakers for students

College Readiness Program

  • Obtaining financial information from parents (Tax Forms)
  • Obtaining student school transcripts
  • Obtaining student recommendation letters
  • Obtaining fee waivers for students
  • Collecting college acceptance letters
  • Continuing regular communication with former students
  • Sending calls, texts, letters, birthday cards to former students
  • Finding out where they have gone to college and updating their progress

Planning Student Field Trips

  • Coordinating with outside entities to plan high school and middle school trips to colleges, museums, work sites
  • Attend field trips with middle school and high school students
  • Planning student travel (bus, public transportation)
  • Creating permissions slips for LNESC Programs
  • Handing out permission slips for LNESC Programs
  • Calling high school and middle school students to ensure their attendance
  • Coordinating guest speakers for students after school from a variety of fields

File Maintenance

  • Ensure high school and middle school student applications are accurate and complete
  • Ensure high school and middle school student medical forms are complete
  • Obtain missing information from student files (transcripts, report cards, medical forms)
  • Ensure middle school lesson plans are entered into database
  • Ensure middle school students sign in each day
  • Ensure sign in sheet is accurate and complete

Parent Engagement

  • Organize and host parent nights (orientation, potlucks, student nights, etc.) for LNESC Programs
  • Contact parents about students who did not show up to program
  • Contact parents via email, text message, phone calls about upcoming events
  • Contact parents in case of emergencies, student updates, and student progress

Additional Duties:

  • Attending Trainings for OST, FAFSA, etc.
  • Printing Materials
  • Shredding Papers
  • Creating Spreadsheets
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, counseling or a related field
  • At least one year experience working with at risk high school youth
  • At least one year working with OST Programs
  • At least one year experience working with college access
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish & English)
