Title: Senior Accountant

Reports To: Financial Controller

Location: Brookline, MA (preferred)

Status: Full Time; Exempt

Start Date: Immediate

The Senior Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting and payroll processing responsibilities within the Finance Office. The Senior Accountant serves as the primary point of contact for all payroll processing, corporate credit card management and employee reimbursements processing. In addition, this individual will perform several other general ledger accounting activities such as the monthly reconciliation of various accounts, restricted funds, bank account statements, and other projects as needed. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant interacts closely with other members of the Finance team and works with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide all consultation and support to the Financial Controller and other Finance team in the development and monitoring of organization’s accounting policies and procedure.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Controller on maintenance and oversight of data processing systems; establishment; documentation and monitoring of all control policies and procedures for financial and related operating functions.
  • Perform ongoing accounting and internal financial reporting tasks including preparation of journal entries; account analysis including various accounts and net assets reconciliations; preparation of all internal and external grants reports and analysis.
  • Process all payrolls, manage, and develop related payroll reporting.
  • Manage corporate credit cards program and employee reimbursement via Concur.
  • Serve as a back-up for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years accounting experience; experience with non-profit organizations preferred; Minimum of 1 year in Senior Accountant role
  • Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, payroll systems, application program integration (API) and customer relationship management (CRM)
  • Detailed oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, complete work accurately and meet deadlines
  • Able to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
