Bilingual Survivor Advocate (Case Manager)

Position Available Immediately/ Full Time - Hourly

Location: Initially Virtual then office in Koreatown

Supervised by: Clinical Director, LCSW


Since 1980, the Program for Torture Victims (PTV) has assisted courageous immigrant survivors of torture, persecution and other human rights abuses to heal their physical and psychological wounds and start a second life here in California.


PTV has a unique opportunity for a passionate, bilingual/multilingual case manager position with experience providing critical trauma-informed and therapeutic social services working with immigrant survivors of torture (SOT) and trauma to restore dignity, safety, wellness, self-sufficiency and civic engagement as survivors rebuild life.


The successful candidate will have the following qualifications or attributes:

·   A minimum 4 years of case management, social work or commensurate experience in social services, client advocacy or public sector engagement. Experience in trauma-informed case management and counseling model a plus.

·   Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish or other language required. (Arabic, Armenian, Luganda, Mandarin, Russian, Vietnamese useful)

·   Working knowledge or ability to build relationships with community service providers to assist new immigrants with housing, health insurance, employment training, education, legal and other psycho-social-economic needs.

•   Experience working with LGBTQ communities, refugees, immigrants or non-English speakers.

•   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•   A supportive team player who is self-motivated, compassionate and socially conscious.  

•   Ability to adhere to a survivor-centered, holistic and multidisciplinary approach to case management, counseling and community organizing efforts.

•   Conscientious with completing case notes and utilizing electronic client database, Electronic Health Records, or other program management software.

•   Comfortability with community outreach, training and education desirable.

•   Creativeness, resourcefulness and initiative to identify gaps and offer solutions.

•   Authorization to work in the United States.

•   Valid CA Driver license, current auto insurance, and a vehicle to drive between work locations and off-site meetings.
