Description

The Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ) is a nonprofit, operational foundation dedicated to advancing justice in courtrooms, classrooms, and communities around the world.  This position will principally support the TrialWatch Project, which is a CFJ initiative to monitor and respond to trials that pose a significant risk of human rights violations. The TrialWatch Project takes a data-driven and comparative approach to trial monitoring and will grade trials according to their compliance with international fair-trial standards. TrialWatch will also ultimately contribute to the development of a ‘Justice Index’ that ranks states’ performance in the area of fair trial rights. 


CFJ is looking for an experienced Infrastructure and Cloud Operations Engineer, to be based in New York, with a focus on administrating CRM, CMS, a cross-platform mobile app, and cloud infrastructure, and an interest in nonprofit and human rights work. This employee will design and oversee the security, management, administration, and implementation of IT systems and business tools for CFJ, with a particular focus on TrialWatch.  Experience managing website hosting would also be a plus.  This employee should be comfortable working in a start-up environment.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain the foundation’s cloud infrastructure 
  • Collaborate with the foundation’s partners to implement and maintain technology integrations    
  • Manage the foundation's technology investments, including cloud systems, SaaS platforms solutions, CRM-backed, cross-platform mobile applications, CMS systems and hardware
  • Define the foundation’s technology roadmap and build the appropriate procurement plan to support it
  • Administer email accounts for internal and external users 
  • Ensure security and compliance by managing Active Directory, security certificates, encryption keys, and other critical security matters
  • Define and manage policies, procedures and architecture to protect data and information assets
  • Monitor web and back-end analytics, and troubleshoot system performance 
  • Provide technical advice and training to other colleagues at the foundation 
  • Serve as technical liaison with the foundation's partners, triage and escalate user-facing issues (internal and external)
  • Drive and own technical decisions on behalf of the organization

 

Core Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience as Cloud Operations Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Operations Engineer, System Administrator or related key IT role 
  • Experience in cloud platforms and technologies, such as Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform
  • Understanding of setup and management of directory services such as Active Directory, LDAP, Apache Directory, etc.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve technical issues with cloud-based software. Help desk experience is a plus
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve operational problems across functional components
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Passion for quality with strong user empathy and focus 


Preferred skills

  • Familiarity with CRM software such as Dynamics CRM or Salesforce
  • Experience with the Microsoft cloud and/or stack including O365, Windows or other Microsoft software/services
  • Knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as JavaScript, C#, Java, Python, or similar
  • Experience with scripting tools, such as PowerShell, bash, or similar
  • Experience with DevOps and Agile development
  • Experience with reporting tools such as PowerBi, Tableau, or similar

 

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, or 4+ years of equivalent experience
  • MCSA, MCSE, AWS, and/or CompTIA certifications are a plus
