EVkids empowers underserved Boston youth with the skills and confidence needed to realize their potential. EVkids creates a community of support through 1-on-1, multi-year, academic mentoring relationships, professional family engagement and school advocacy, college success advising and mentoring support, and a summer camp at our 9-acre site in Vermont. By building a safe space where success is expected and attainable together, EVkids helps low-income students get to and through college.

Based in Dorchester, EVkids is a faith-based organization that supports low-income Boston students grades 3 to 12 aspire to and achieve college enrollment and graduation as first-generation college attendees. EVkids volunteer tutors are students at local universities, including Boston College, Harvard, Northeastern, Tufts, and UMass Boston among others. EVkids tutors commit to the values of service, community, and reflection, and as such, graduate to become lifelong agents of positive social change.

Up to 150 Tutoring pairs meet weekly across five EVkids after-school Tutoring sites, three in Dorchester, one in Roxbury, and one virtual site. They are supported through weekly contact with families, regular communication with teachers and guidance counselors, on- and off-site support for tutors, and community- and campus-based events. The EVkids College Success Project helps high school students find their spark, access internships and other resume-building opportunities, and navigate the college application process. Graduates are paired with college success mentors (often their previous tutors) to support them as they take control over their college journey. OPPORTUNITY

The Director of Giving is a key member of the senior leadership team, supporting the organization by expanding and strengthening its donor relationships, communications, and processes. The successful candidate will be familiar with a broad scope of fundraising tools with demonstrated strengths in several.

Responsibilities

Create and implement short- and long-term development plans that incorporate acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for all constituent and gift types, including individual giving, alumni giving, planned giving, recurring gifts, foundations, government grants, and corporate partnerships.
Cultivate and steward donors of all levels, including current and prospective major donors.
Work with the Executive Director and Board to develop revenue targets and the strategies to meet them
Supervise the Development Team, which includes one full-time Development Manager and a part-time/contract Grant Writer
Spearhead planning and execution of annual events, including the annual Expanding Horizons Gala, two hybrid Advisory Council meetings, virtual and in-person alumni reunions
Oversee donor database (Bloomerang) to ensure accuracy and consistency, and to maximize effectiveness
Write and coordinate the sending of (at least) three annual solicitations to individuals
Oversee the production of all communication materials, including biannual newsletters, monthly e-newsletters, a special monthly update for recurring donors, event invitations, annual impact report, social media posts, and website
Support the Board’s fundraising skills and efforts through their continued development as fundraisers
Maintain the organization’s strong connections with program alumni, including through individual cultivation and alumni events
Recruit, cultivate, and steward volunteers to support fundraising outreach, communications, and events

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
5-10 years of experience in development
Professional experience working with diverse donor populations
Comfort navigating multiple work sites and demands in a flexible and professional environment
Experience in project and event management
Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills; experience with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, & Forms) and Salesforce helpful

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Salary $75,000-85,000, commensurate with experience; additional $2,400 travel, phone, and home office reimbursement annually; 5 weeks paid vacation (6 weeks by year two); 20 paid holidays including 4 floating; paid sick days; IRA and health care plan match available.
