The Development Assistant position is a temporary part-time position that is expected to begin August 2018 and end December 2018. The Development Assistant position at Community Renewal Society will further the mission of Community Renewal Society as we work to bring people of faith and congregations together, in partnership with communities, coalitions, interfaith organizations, and civic leaders, to intentionally and decisively transform society toward greater social justice at the intersection of racism and poverty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
➢ Assist the Director of Development and Communications as needed ➢ Coordinate fall and year-end giving campaigns via direct mail, email and telephone ➢ Ensure proper donation activity tracking in database including contact information, call
reports, event attendance, and other engagement ➢ Process and acknowledge gifts within 24 hours and in accordance with IRS regulations ➢ Provide regular standing reports as needed ➢ General database processing and data entry ➢ Assist with special event logistics as needed.
➢ Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent preferred ➢ One to two years related experience preferred ➢ Strong attention to details ➢ Commitment to excellence and high standards ➢ Excellent written and oral communication ➢ Strong commitment to social justice and promoting a just society by challenging injustice
and valuing diversity.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to speak, read and write English with high proficiency. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Nonprofit database experience, EveryAction preferred Advanced experience with Microsoft Office
Basic mathematical skills required.
Work may require walking or standing to a significant degree, including ascending and descending stairs. Work requires expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, including imparting oral information to constituents, co-workers and the public. Work requires the ability to be able to hear and receive detailed information through oral communication. Work requires vision approximating 20/20 either naturally or through correction with lenses and a reasonable field of vision.
Work environment includes occasional exposure to weather. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

This a temporary part-time position 20 – 25 hours per week.
Occasional travel within the Chicagoland area may be required for special events
