Description

The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) seeks a talented, self-motivated, productive, creative, and detail-oriented Coordinator to join the highly motivated team within the Office of Undergraduate STEM Education at AAC&U. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a passion for empowering the professional lives of others.

 

The Office of Undergraduate STEM Education (OUSE) at AAC&U has as its goal to position AAC&U as a critical, national leader in advancing US STEM higher education reform. Grounded in the shared legacy of Project Kaleidoscope and the reference points of AAC&U’s mission-level commitments to quality and inclusive excellence, the OUSE works to: 1) provide world-class professional development for STEM faculty; 2) expand the STEM higher education reform knowledge base through cutting-edge research; and 3) position AAC&U for national influence in the undergraduate STEM reform community. The Coordinator will provide important support in data, budgetary, and programmatic administration to the OUSE team, in general; and for the signature programs of Project Kaleidoscope, more specifically. The ideal candidate must have exceptional communication and organizational skills, and be able to identify and implement creative solutions that will enable the Office to realize its vision for growth and expansion. The Coordinator will assist in maintaining a highly congenial work atmosphere that is respectful, collegial, and highly supportive of the professional needs and desires of others. As such, the Coordinator is a key factor in sustaining a spirit of collaboration in the Office of Undergraduate STEM Education that foregrounds discipline, strong work ethic, and the care of self and others. This is a full time position and reports directly to the Vice President for Undergraduate STEM Education.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in raising national awareness about the signature programs of the OUSE (i.e., PKAL STEM Leadership Institute and PKAL Regional Networks)

·        Proactively contribute to conceptualizing, developing, writing, editing, and finalizing professional development/training materials and other external-facing documents

·        Provide technical support through: consultation on data visualization designs, strategic planning for branding and promoting program activities, generation of charts and graphs for presentation and dissemination, and organization of promotional items and materials

  • Provide leadership in the conceptualization and implementation of an aggressive business plan for expansion of OUSE signature programs
  • Perform quality control of and copy editing for all external-facing documents

·        Coordinate special projects and efforts to facilitate effective functioning and growth of the Office and its signature programs

·        Maintain data sharing files and financial records, order supplies, prepare mailings and act as the first point of contact for phone calls, general inquiries, and specific results from stakeholder communities

·        Develop administrative procedures and effectively communicate them to staff to ensure efficient and productive operations

·        Maintain impeccable financial records, manage the processing of invoices and reimbursements

·        Provide administrative support to stakeholders, including managing and maintaining a priority-driven calendar, responding to meeting requests, arranging travel, and completing expense reports

·        Provide high level coordination of meeting and/or conference logistics, scheduling, and material preparation

·        Work effectively and collaboratively with a cadre of volunteer STEM faculty and administrators to support the recruitment and training of STEM faculty

·        Produce data reports that track program growth and expansion

·        Other related duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years experience in program management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of foundational theories and frameworks that can inform OUSE STEM faculty professional development programs
  • Advanced knowledge of and extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), project management software, and data sharing platforms
  • Experience with event planning preferred

·        Superior communication skills, written and oral, and an ability to articulate a compelling message to multidisciplinary audiences

  • Able to work independently and without supervision; demonstrated ability to handle complex projects and prioritizing and managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines and time constraints
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including budget management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment and on short timelines

Appointment and Salary

This position is full-time at the level of Coordinator. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.
