College Advising Corps (CAC) is an independent non-profit organization that works to increase the rates of college enrollment and completion among low-income, first-generation college and underrepresented high school students. CAC supports students nationwide through two innovative program models. The in-school model places well-trained, recent college graduates from our 25 partner universities as full-time college advisers in high schools across the nation. The virtual model leverages technology to connect well-trained, recent college graduates with high-achieving, low- and-moderate income students across the nation. We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to enter and complete higher education and are committed to supporting students as they navigate the complex processes of college admissions, financial aid, and enrollment.
The Program Manager for Professional Development and Training will play a critical role in equipping advisers at New York University with the information and resources they need to advance to achieve their school level goals. More specifically, this individual will be responsible for designing and implementing the College Advising Corps Pre-Service Training and on-going monthly in-service training sessions. Related to this position, the program manager will also supervise a cohort of advisers, traveling to school sites weekly. The Program Manager will collaborate with the NYU CAC program team to ensure a seamless on-boarding of CAC advisers to the new school communities. The Program Manager will also provide high-level project management support to the Executive Director of NYU CAC.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Training and Professional Development: Develop six-week annual summer training calendar that prepares new and continuing advisers with tools necessary to adequately advise low-income, first generation youth along the college application pathway. Use adviser feedback to inform monthly in-service training. Inform program team on new college access developments and trainings available for all to attend. Finalize logistics for all training workshops held on NYU’s campus.
Adviser Supervision: Evaluate performance of program through regular site visits to high school partners. Hold monthly meetings with high school designated on-site supervisors. Assist advisers in development of site specific work plans and service deliverables. Communicate regularly with advisers and provide ongoing feedback regarding performance measures and data collection.
Programmatic Support: Work alongside the Program Manager- Professional Development and Executive Director to deliver the resources and coaching that advisers need to tackle program-specific challenges and achieve success. Participate in regular meetings with team members and national office staff to work collaboratively and integrate activities and functions across programs. Manage and/or participate in additional projects as requested by the Executive Director, NYU CAC
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Program Manager will be a self-starter with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and at least 2-4 years of experience in programming, college access, and project management. The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following competencies and attributes:
