Title: Grant Analyst

SUMMARY:  As a member of the Grants team within the Finance Department, the Grant Analyst will monitor and analyze private and government funded activities and the effective and efficient stewardship of those resources towards the intended outcome.    

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor and analyze program utilization of funds against budget plan and program outcomes

• Prepares monthly reports on grant and contract spending and ad hoc financial analysis.

• Analyze program costs and variances to budget

• Work with program leaders to forecast grant spending and identify areas for adjustment and/or budget modification

• Assist department leaders to ensure understanding and adherence to contract requirements.

• Monitor program outcomes against contract deliverables and alert Grants Director and program leadership 

• Assist Grants Administrator in all areas of ensuring communication of compliance measures. 

• Develop and upload original budgets to Funding Source CMS sites liaise with programs as appropriate.

• Interact with the various department heads, funders and executives to provide insightful and actionable financial analysis.

• Handle multiple assignments in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment with extensive direct interaction with Program departments and funders.

• Ensure reporting accuracy through the pursuit of continuous process improvement.

• Develop and maintain financial reports to optimize forecasting, tracking and analysis of spending rates compared to budget.

• Utilize financial systems to extract data to develop and update key financial reports and ensure accurate coding of expenditures

• In pursuit of optimal revenue, monitor contracts for potential problems related to compliant and timely spending.

• Develop expertise in fiscal policies of public/private contracting agencies, so that recorded expenses and invoices comply with Funder requirements and maintain contractual health.

• Support in the preparation and submission of monthly invoice reimbursement requests 

• Work on ad-hoc projects as needed


  QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Ideal candidate must be pro-active and self-motivated with ability to work across multiple departments in a dynamic environment 

• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills

• Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail as well as the ability to work under pressure while ensuring efficacy through process management

• Experience working with cross-functional and inter-departmental teams.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in nonprofit industry with extensive knowledge of laws applicate to the compliance and administration of federal, NYS and NYC funding.

• Experience with multiple grants exceeding $1M

• Solid analytical capabilities

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

• Experience with NetSuite systems or other Accounting software 

• Proficiency in Excel required

• Fluency with Microsoft SharePoint
