Role & Responsibilities

 People at the Oversight Board Administration are the core strategic driver of our success. The People Team therefore strives to provide unique experiences for all staff working for the Oversight Board. As such, the HR Generalist (US) will play a crucial role contributing to the organization by developing and implementing progressive HR solutions to support an amazing and innovative culture at the Oversight Board Administration. The incumbent in this position will work closely with the HR Business Partners located in the UK to ensure consistency in the implementation of policies and procedures.

 The HR Generalist will be part of a highly cross-functional team and will leverage prior HR generalist and HR business partner experience to develop a trusted adviser relationship with managers while supporting the critical ongoing compliance work related to employment. The HR Generalist will report to and work with the HR Manager, in a true generalist role to identify HR compliance priorities and ensure that HR policies, procedures and initiatives are fully aligned with the Oversight Board’s objectives. They will manage core HR administration processes under the direction of the HR Manager as well as support the HRIS/Payroll implementation project from the People Team’s perspective. They will work in partnership with the HR Manager and People Team to provide data, insight and ongoing support on HR issues. They will also possess a deep understanding and knowledge of the compliance frameworks of the various US jurisdictions within which OSB operates. 

This role may be based in either of the Administration’s locations, being San Francisco or Washington D.C. 

 Skills and Experience

 Successful candidates are likely to have the following skills and experience:

  •  Educated to a master’s degree standard in Human Resources or related field is preferred
  • HR Certification required, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CEBS or equivalent
  • In depth knowledge of state and federal employment law including HR technical knowledge of EEO, AA, FMLA, ADA, unemployment, and worker’s compensation in a multi-state or global organization
  • Ability and flexibility to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring continuous follow-up.
  • Extensive experience in managing payroll, 401k, health insurance and other benefits plans
  • Demonstrated experience crafting and deploying HR systems and processes
  • Strong track record of delivering a high quality of HR compliance work
  • Experience with providing high-quality onboarding experiences for new joiners and leading positive engagement with leavers
  • Ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a small and fast-paced organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, stakeholder management skills with the style and ability to gain the trust of employees at every level across the organization and provide sound advice.
  • Proven expertise in delivering accurate and effective HR administration processes and advice with the ability to present data driven solutions and recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of immigration compliance topics as related to right to work and visa petitions
  • Strong employee relations support to include workplace investigations and reporting
