Volunteer and Youth Coordinator

Position Summary: The Volunteer and Youth Coordinator is a full time position that involves working directly with volunteer mentors and tutors, community partners, Connect to College students, and the students’ parents. 

Responsibilities:

·        Recruit, screen, and conduct intake interviews with volunteers and families

·        Match volunteer mentors and tutors with appropriate Connect to College students

·        Supervise mentor and tutor matches, and provide counsel as needed

·        Maintain records of monthly contacts with volunteers

·        Conduct community outreach activities and public speaking engagements with the goal of recruiting volunteers and gaining community support, with an emphasis on the recruitment of young men of color

·        Serve as the adult mentor for the Connect to College Young Men of Color initiatives

·        Support college access activities including college planning, college applications, and weekend and overnight college tours

·        Create and deliver wellness and enrichment programming for Connect to College boys and young men

·        Help staff Uncommon Good promotional events

·        Maintain an active social media presence for the Connect to College program, and in particular for the Young Men of Color activities

Skills:

·        Proficient in Salesforce, Zoom, Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·        Event coordination

·        Public speaking

·        Facility with social media, especially Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

·        Ability to write at a professional business level

Minimum Requirements:

·        A four year college degree

·        A minimum of five years experience with mentoring programs, youth development programs, college access programs, or related experience

·        Willingness to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings

Strongly Desired: Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English

Salary and benefits: Salary is $52,000 . If the employee does not have health insurance from another source, it is provided through Kaiser Permanente.
