Girls Who Code was established with a singular mission—to close the gender gap in technology fields by educating and equipping girls with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Programs, the Senior Manager, Workforce Programs will ensure the growth of impactful programs that help more young women successfully prepare for futures in the tech industry, including our flagship program, College Loops.
They will also manage and iterate on additional Girls Who Code workforce programs, as well as design and develop new pilot initiatives, all with the goals of retaining student interest in Computer Science fields in college, preparing them for professional opportunities, and increasing retention and growth in tech jobs.
The ideal candidate has at least 6 years of demonstrated experience developing and managing educational programs and complex projects in a dynamic, metrics-driven environment, and is comfortable leading high-profile, cross-team initiatives. They are able to track multiple projects at the same time, supervise and support bodies of work provided by other teams and team members, and motivate cross-functional teams to deliver timely and high-quality work.
The successful candidate also brings workforce development experience and/or program management experience and a commitment to the Girls Who Code mission.
*This position is temporarily remote, but will be based in NYC when we re-open.
- Expand our College Loops program to reach more universities and more college-aged women in STEM through research, creative outreach, and new programming.
- Lead the design of new programs targeting college-aged students and recent graduates that support their academic success, job-readiness, and career growth, including content, recruitment, and process development.
- Support and iterate upon existing workforce programs to scale these programs and improve program quality
- Collaborate with Workforce teammates to ensure program events and communications are well-designed, on message, and support the goals of each program.
- Manage cross-departmental working groups for new and existing initiatives to ensure timely delivery of thoughtfully designed programs
- Support the Partnerships team in securing new partners for workforce programs, reporting results to existing partners, and facilitating partner engagements.
- Areas of focus will include College Loops expansion, the Work Prep pilot (a career exploration program with partner companies), and Virtual Mentoring, but may shift or expand based on organizational and constituent need
- Report on program outcomes, including participation rates, diversity of participants, participant satisfaction, and projected growth.
- Advocate for Girls Who Code alumni and help develop relationships and opportunities to further their learning and professional growth
- At least 6 years prior experience in managing high-impact programs, workforce development higher education preferred
- Detail-oriented; superb organizational skills
- Polished communication skills, comfortable communicating with corporate partners, managing funder expectations, and engaging corporate employees in volunteership
- Experience working with complex operations, workflows, and systems; as well as designing and implementing new processes
- Strong project management skills, alongside an ability to anticipate, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
- Flexible and adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where projects may be re-scoped or pivoted to better address organizational needs.
- Able to manage both high-level project plans and strategic analysis as well as willingness to pitch in to execute programs. An all-hands-on-deck attitude.
- Desire to learn and grow as part of a small organization; team player with a flexible, creative, and analytical approach to problem solving
- Ability and willingness to travel as necessary (~10%)
