Full-time, Reporting to the Executive Director and Assistant Director
GrowNYC, NYC’s go-to nonprofit resource for environmental sustainability is seeking a senior member of its Development team. GrowNYC is a nearly 50-year-old organization dedicated to improving NYC’s environment through a variety of programs including Greenmarket farmers markets, environmental education, open space greening and recycling. GrowNYC is seeking a senior member of its Development Department who will work closely with the small extant development team and report directly to our Executive Director and Assistant Director. This individual is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the fundraising efforts. This includes identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations and government organizations; corporate and foundation partnerships; management of grant proposals; management of our Raiser’s Edge database; special events; and implementation of giving appeals. They will work closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Director and supervise current development staff to align fundraising efforts with the strategic directions and needs of the organization.
You have the unique ability to be self-directed and set and attain benchmarks for yourself and for the team. The ability to deftly manage through encouragement and inspiration not micro-management. The best fundraisers are those that genuinely like people and want to bring them along – you are that person! You have strong writing and interpersonal skills, and the vision to motivate our extant development team in a collaborative and collegial environment.
A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience of fundraising experience, with the ability to show progressive achievements in personal solicitation and the ability to create a high performing and sustainable development program.
Should possess good emotional intelligence, the ability to do more with less, bring creative thinking to all aspects of the job, a good sense of humor and not be easily discouraged, and of course great attention to detail.
Experience with an environmental or food organization is advantageous but is not required.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience. This position is full-time with a generous benefits package including medical and dental insurance and paid time off.
