Barbershop Books, winner of the National Book Foundation's Innovations in Reading Prize, inspires Black boys and other vulnerable children to read for fun through child-centered, culturally responsive, and community-based programming and content. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Programs will be responsible for the operational success of all Barbershop Books programs, including our community-based programming, E-library, and the launch of our new K-3 supplemental literacy program for schools. The Director of Programs will manage and oversee the growth of a small team of staff, interns, and volunteers, and lead program development, delivery, quality control, and evaluation. In this newly established role, the Director of Programs will be a key external face of Barbershop Books in the community.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for a burgeoning education leader with team management experience, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a demonstrated track record of growing and further developing an education program. A successful candidate will lead programs, partner with the ED, and work collaboratively with a high-performance executive team.
