Youth Preventionist – UW Bothell

Hours: 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: Starts at $25/hour DOE

Classification: Regular, Non-exempt

LifeWire is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. We value diversity on our staff. Survivors of domestic violence and persons of color are encouraged to apply.

LifeWire’s Vision / Mission:

Domestic violence is a human rights issue. LifeWire envisions a world in which every person lives in a safe environment, free from oppression and with the opportunity to thrive. LifeWire’s mission is to end domestic violence by changing individual, institutional and societal beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate it.

About LifeWire:

Everyone deserves to live free from fear and violence. From a safe home, each of us can work, learn, play, and fully contribute to our community. At LifeWire, we help adults, children, and youth who have been impacted by domestic violence build safer and healthier lives by offering support, resources, and professional services. And we work with youth and young adults to develop healthy foundations early in life, preventing future violence.

Overview of Service:

LifeWire’s youth and young adult prevention work is built upon the socioecological model of prevention, understanding that successful prevention relies on impacting individual, relationship, community, and societal factors that contribute to domestic violence, as each of these levels influences the others. At the individual level, we work to promote attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that prevent violence. At the relationship level, we aim to promote healthy relationships and strengthen skills for building and maintaining such relationships. We also offer strategies for supporting peers and intervening to prevent situations that may increase risk. Finally, our campus-wide activities aim to address the societal level by changing attitudes across high school and college campuses through events, activities, peer influence and/or awareness campaigns.

Overview of Position:

LifeWire’s Youth Preventionists provide focused youth education, skill development and support for campus clubs and leadership development opportunities that support youth leaders in changing campus culture. This position will be primarily responsible for implementation of a multi-dose prevention curriculum, skill-building and coordination of a Student Advisory Committee to organize campus-wide social change strategies on the UW-Bothell Campus.
