Position Summary: 

CLC is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to provide support to each of its programmatic legal teams. Reporting to a member of senior management, the Program Assistant provides a wide range of administrative and research support to CLC’s four issue areas: campaign finance, ethics, redistricting, and voting rights.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to assisting attorneys and paralegals with a variety of CLC’s litigation, policy, and public outreach work such as preparing court exhibits and materials for conferences and presentations; conducting research on a broad array of topics related to our issue areas; tracking trends and developments in voting rights and campaign finance law; writing blogs for the CLC website in coordination with our Communications department; drafting FOIA requests, and other written materials; assisting with CLC’s Restore Your Vote hotline; maintaining electronic and paper records; and attending and reporting on meetings or events related to CLC’s work.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting program staff in:
  • preparing court exhibits, other legal documents, and materials for conferences and presentations
  • transmitting, receiving, and maintaining correspondence with courts, opposing counsel, and others
  • coordinating conferences and meetings
  • Conducting research and tracking trends and developments in voting rights and campaign finance legislation and litigation
  • Managing electronic system used for Congressional communications
  • Drafting blogs, FOIA requests, and other written materials
  • Assisting with CLC’s Restore Your Vote hotline
  • Maintaining electronic and paper records in conjunction with CLC’s paralegals
  • Attending hearings, meetings or events on occasion related to CLC’s work and supplying summaries
  • A variety of other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated administrative, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects for multiple teams
  • Demonstrated success in working and communicating effectively and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Commitment to the nonpartisan nature and overall mission of CLC
  • Enthusiastic interest in election-related issues with relevant experience is desirable
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Exceptional diligence in detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Skills in one or more of the following areas are preferred but not required:
  • data analysis
  • data visualization
  • programming languages
