Associate Director of Organizing - Inland Empire Black Worker Center

The Associate Director of Organizing must be comfortable in a start-up environment and will report to the Director, leading base-building and drive campaigns. They step in to represent the organization as an associate director. They be a direct link to the funders and other strategic partners, and coalitional allies. The Associate Director develops and help drive the overall effort for change, culminating policy and worksite campaigns utilizing organizing, coalition building, research, communications, legal and data management tools. Associate Director adapts quickly to changing circumstances and support workers and staff in overcoming obstacles. Successful candidate demonstrates a deep love for Black people, a commitment to the liberation of Black workers, and strong grasp of the fundamentals of grassroots organizing and fundraising.

Duties: Assist the Executive Director in developing budgets and fundraising activities including grant writing and funder interactions. Support funder and donor engagement in the organizing work. Design campaigns and deep focus on developing and overseeing internal system for organizing, specifically leadership development and base-building. Establish contact with potential members, build relationships, organize and run meetings, identify and develop authentic grassroots leaders. Train and develop staff to motivate and mobilize Black workers and those who want to work to take- action. Design, maintain and monitor databases to support base-building and grant reporting and writing including membership records.

Qualifications: At least 3 years prior leadership experiences in non-profit, community-based grassroots organizing, union organizing or comparable staff leadership experience desirable. Fundraising and budget management experience preferable. Good writing, listening, reporting and assessment skills important. Proven ability to discern priorities and meet competing deadlines. Use of technology, including databases. Experience should demonstrate an ability to design and manage campaigns. Must be able to drive and maintain a valid driver's license, auto insurance and reliable car. Travel required. Willing to work irregular hours, as evening and weekend work will be involved.
