In Philadelphia, PA we provide a continuum of housing services from transitional housing to rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing. All services are provides in a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and client-centered model of care. St. Joseph’s House, located in the West Oak Lane neighborhood, will provide transitional housing to 24 young people attending college. Students will be aged 18-26 and have experienced housing instability and homelessness. Depaul will provide housing, meals, life skills education and case management support to residents to ensure that they successfully obtain their degrees.

Depaul facilities operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week, providing accommodation and support to homeless individuals. This position performs hourly rounds of the entire facility to ensure that the building is safe and secure, reporting any problems to Case Management staff and the Program Director. Ensures a safe and secure environment and maintains high operational standards within the project. Ensures adherence to all quality assurance policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications and Credentials
The ideal Residential Aide will be a compassionate social services professional with at least one year of experience working with disadvantaged populations. Higher education in social work or a related field is highly desirable.
• Minimum one year experience working with homeless, disabled or impoverished populations;
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire;
• Strong communication skills—both oral and written.
• Basic computer skills, including emailing and using word processing software; and
• Passing a criminal background check.
1 Job Duties and Responsibilities
1.1 Performs hourly rounds of the entire facility to ensure that the building is safe and secure. Ensures a safe and secure environment and maintains high operational standards within the project. Reports any problems to the next shift and the Philadelphia Director.
1.2 Provides guidance and support for project residents. Facilitates an evening recreational group.
1.3 Ensures that the practical needs of residents are met (in conjunction with volunteers); i.e. providing food, laundry, clean bedding, etc.
1.4 Maintains the Donations Closet including organizing, inventory and developing procedures to ensure the closet is orderly and all needed items are available to project residents. Works with Philadelphia Director to solicit donations from the community for clothing and toiletries when needed.
1.5 Assists Operations Advisor with distribution of chores and supplies to residents when requested. Reports any concerns about inventory to Operations Advisor.
1.6 Builds professional relationships with all residents and assists them with difficult or problematic situations in a sensitive manner.
1.7 Assists with reception and administration duties as scheduled.
1.8 Ensures adherence to all quality assurance policies and procedures.
