Oakland Lacrosse Club

At Oakland Lacrosse, established in 2012, we believe in the power of team sports to unleash the full potential in each young person. We do so by establishing long standing relationships with our players, families, and schools and building an environment throughout all of our teams that creates positive peer relationships, develops their confidence to overcome challenges, and connects them to a network of resources. Our year round program provides free access to the sport and a holistic approach that includes leadership development, academic counseling, and wellness education for youth from Oakland Public Schools in grades 6-12.

Program Coordinator Position Overview:

The Program Coordinator is the face of our program year round and the glue to many key relationships with players and parents.  Working directly under the Program Director they will map out and prepare for all program aspects, and with fellow Program Coordinator, Coaching Staff and volunteers, implement all programs and ensure all annual goals are on track and ultimately achieved.  Program ranges from Lacrosse & Leadership, Academic Advocacy, Career & College Exposure, and Wellness education although responsibilities vary for each.  This includes recruiting players through our outreach events and supporting coaches in meeting individual player and team development objectives during the spring season to coordinating with partners on enrichment activities which includes field trips to local colleges and businesses, nutrition workshops, and special lacrosse events. Additionally, our Program Coordinator will support Program & Executive Director, Academic Coach(es), and outside Contractors (i.e. Nutrition Workshop Facilitators) in execution of any non-lacrosse related goals or tracking of demographic & grant information.

Girls Coordinator Position During COVID:

Oakland Lacrosse is vigilant in keeping our staff, and players healthy and safe. We strictly adhere to guidance from Alameda County Public Health Department, and follow US Lacrosse Return To Play Guidelines.  Currently, 50% of the work is virtual and 50% will be working with players in person, and we continually monitor and design our program to fit Covid realities.  Once it is safe to do so we will implement our full in person program and return to office  space in downtown Oakland.
