Community Events Coordinator
The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is the nation's leading non-profit organization promoting liver health and disease prevention. ALF provides research, education and advocacy for those affected by liver-related diseases, including hepatitis.
Perform a wide-range of administrative and support duties for operations, accounting, educational programs, and special events for the division. The CEC will also provide fundraising, program service and administrative support to Executive Director.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with Executive Director, prepare annual plan of work for assigned areas of responsibility.
Support fundraising events (Liver Life Walks, Flavors events, Liver Life Challenge) and other activities in assigned areas, to include but not limited to the following:
Volunteer recruitment, organization, orientation, and training.
Assist with developing written communication and event materials.
Logistics for the events
Monitoring of each event/activity budget
Writing thank you notes and letters to donors and sponsors of the events
Coordinate and attend health fairs and other community events
Interact with members of Committees as assigned.
Perform administrative tasks necessary to the maintenance of the American Liver Foundation office in Houston, such as answering telephone, handling or referring calls as appropriate; maintaining office supplies; disseminate educational information as needed.
Maintain Program websites.
Perform other duties as required by Executive Director to meet the needs of the American Liver Foundation.
Fiscal Responsibility: Monitoring budget of each event/activity and maintaining accurate recordkeeping in support of Executive Director.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
Experience: Two years of experience with not-for-profit organizations and special event management.
RELATED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher). Bi-lingual a plus. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, proven customer service record, ability to handle multiple tasks.
This is a part-time position of 21 hours per-week. Based in the Houston office, this position cannot be performed remotely.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
Able and willing to lift/move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and ability to travel 2-3 times per year. Position requires use of personal vehicle.
Level of Language Proficiency
