National Volunteer Corps members support the Mission and Values of Boys Hope Girls Hope by committing one year to fill a great need in one of our 15 affiliates across the country. The primary responsibilities may involve focusing on academic success and community involvement of scholars, becoming part of a team of residential counselors, or taking on other tasks related to the multi-faceted care we provide our scholars. Regardless of their primary role, most volunteers will assist in caring for scholars through driving, meal preparation, and general supervision. Volunteers may choose to live in one of our family-like homes with scholars, becoming a part of daily life as a member of the household, or to provide their own housing. Volunteers participate in training, orientation, and a mid-year retreat to support their service and personal/professional growth, and they receive medical benefits, some travel expenses, a bi-weekly stipend, and a Commitment to Service Award in the amount of $5,000 at the end of a successful year of full-time service. Members who choose to live in the BHGH home also receive room and board.
They also receive room and board if they choose to live in one of our residential homes. Medical benefits are available. Transportation to and from the service site is provided.
