Reports to: Director of Engagement & Learning

Anticipated Start: Early September 2024

The Programs Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of programmatic initiatives, support services, functional milestones, and deliverables that allow MTPC to achieve our agreed-upon work streams as articulated in our strategic plan. This position requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and an organized work style. We are looking for someone with experience (personal and/or professional) with trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive communities. MTPC is committed to the professional development of our team members. This position will include access to workshops, seminars, and other professional development opportunities. 

MTPC Programs and Responsibilities

Identity Document Assistance (IDA) Network: provides guidance, support, and financial assistance for trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive people living in New England who are seeking to update their legal name and/or gender on federal and state documents. 

  • Respond to community inquiries related to name and gender marker change assistance;
  • Review and process applications for IDA Network financial assistance;
  • Coordinate with IDA Network volunteer legal advocates and notaries for 1:1 assistance to community members and Name Change Clinics;
  • Recruit and train IDA Network volunteers;
  • Host Name Change Clinics, identifying co-hosting partners for engagements throughout Massachusetts and virtually;
  • Meet with Namesake for program and partnership development.

Gender Euphoria and Affirmation Resources (G.E.A.R.): provides trans and non-binary people with access to products, garments, and resources that affirm who they are at no cost. 

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of products;
  • Review and process applications/requests for G.E.A.R. products;
  • Mail requested products to community members;
  • Coordinate donations and/or purchases of items/products/services from businesses, groups, and individuals;
  • Provide safety and sizing information to community members interested in G.E.A.R. products.

Trans Leadership Academy: a professional development program to create a new generation of intersectional and multigenerational transgender leaders, and create new opportunities for transgender individuals in employment and education. 

  • Develop program timeline and activities with MTPC staff;
  • Assist in recruiting consultants, speakers, and participants for program activities;
  • Manage virtual and in-person events, workshops, and engagements;
  • Facilitate learning sessions for program participants;

Trans Youth Summit: an annual, free daylong community conference organized by trans youth, for trans youth, sponsored by MTPC, BAGLY, and Greater Boston PFLAG. The TYS aims to build community, combat oppression, and provide education and resources to those who need them.

  • Organize and manage the Parent/Caregiver programming track with co-hosting organizations;
  • Recruit speakers and facilitators for programming;
  • Recruit and manage volunteers;
  • Review feedback submissions from attendees to inform programming;

REACH Emergency Funding: provides trans and non-binary people emergency financial assistance.

  • Review and process applications for financial assistance;
  • Collaborate with MTPC leadership in the development of Standard Operating Procedures for programmatic operations;

General Responsibilities

  • Operationalize programming; plan, lead, and coordinate projects through the appropriate phases of implementation and support;
  • Represent MTPC at events, engagements, and conferences;
  • Collaborate with MTPC Staff in program visioning, development, and budgets;
  • Assist in the development of community partnerships;
  • Respond to community inquiries (via mail, email, and voicemail) and provide information/referrals to applicable services, resources, organizations, etc.;
  • Organize and coordinate special programming and events;
  • Secure the appropriate tools and program supplies;
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training of program staff, consultants, program providers, and volunteers;
  • Develop and maintain a program database with accurate records;
  • Write project reports, provide program highlights, and make recommendations based on findings;
  • Supervise, manage, and train volunteers/interns.

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
  • Passion for social change/social justice and commitment to the mission of MTPC.

Desired 

  • Experience working for trans rights or other social justice movements.
  • Experience in project management and developing programmatic strategies.
  • Experience with presenting and public speaking.
