JLUSA seeks a driven and experienced Training Manager that will support all Training design, delivery, and take our existing training program to the next level. Reporting to the Director of Leadership, the ideal Training Manager will have a strong background in facilitation, coaching and curriculum development, passion for designing and delivering training, experience working on social justice issues or advocacy campaigns, enthusiasm for JustLeadershipUSA’s mission, and share our commitment to justice and equity.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development

  • Develop, Design and Create training curriculum and materials for all of JLUSA approved trainings (Emerging Leaders, Leading with Conviction, JLUSA Engage) in partnership with Alumni communityDevelop, Design and Create content and materials to update existing curriculum on an ongoing basis to ensure it reflects best practices in instructional design and adult learning
  • for training programs
  • Develop, Design and Create Content for JLUSA’s Engage and future online platforms to maintain relevance and current information and trends
  • Maintain and develop new materials to support the delivery of training through in-person and/or virtual (slide decks, worksheets, video tutorials, etc.)
  • Works closely with the consultant team and JLUSA Alumni community to ensure curricula are aligned with CEU eligibility.
  • Maintain JLUSA’s eligibility for credentialing and seek other opportunities for certification and CEU credentialing

Training

  • Provides oversight, coordination and coaching for the Trainers Program (formerly known as Train-the-Trainer);
  • Provides organizational support, training, coaching, and strategy support as needed
  • Researches and Identifies courses topics, strategies and potential presenters from JLUSA Alumni community and other experts in the identified field 
  • Coordinates and Participates in the facilitation of all interactive in-person, virtual and other methods of delivering trainings 
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of all trainings and ensuring that all trainings are delivered at high standards
  • Serves as one of the core Training Facilitator for JLUSA’s training programs
  • Oversees and supports TrainingCoordinators and their respective jurisdictional organizing and advocacy campaigns
  • Establishing mechanisms to build jurisdictional capacity to organize and convene members from marginalized and oppressed communities with a high propensity of incarceration 
  • Ensuring jurisdictional partners have access to resources and information to build institutional capacity and knowledge Supports overall training capacity by supervising team members to lead trainings

Quality Assurance & Evaluation Learning

  • Provides trainers with feedback to improve facilitation skills
  • Design training assessments and evaluation and summarize results to improve program and to share with all teams
  • Develop and refine meaningful metrics for evaluation.
  • Revamp curriculum content and training delivery mechanisms based on evaluation.
  • Report and share insights and innovations from the trainings with JLUS

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a “front-of-room” trainer, including experience running virtual training.
  • 5+ years of experience working on social justice issues or advocacy campaigns with a demonstrated understanding of the skills, resources, and tools that support successful efforts.
  • 3+ years of experience coaching peers and others in network
  • Experience planning a curriculum and developing training materials focused on advocacy and organizing for participants with varied backgrounds.
  • Experience employing grassroots strategies for social change; base-building Experience in building, inspiring, and/or leading teams of grassroots organizers to achieve lasting policy reform;
  • Ability to actively track progress with respect to core goals and other deliverables;
  • Basic knowledge of racial, economic and criminal justice reform and legislative processes;
  • High energy, strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, the courage to try new things, the humility to accept feedback, and the curiosity and willingness to ask challenging questions;
  • Comfort working collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, as well as working independently on specific projects;
  • Comfort collaborating with staff, partners and Alumni in person and remotely;
  • Computer-skills proficiency (Microsoft suite, Google suite, EveryAction preferred);
  • Commitment to JLUSA’s core mission and values; and
  • Must have the willingness and ability to Travel extensively is required
