Position Overview

Understood.org is expanding its reach, team, and programming. To support our growth, we are searching for several new roles that will work together to drive marketing efforts and support our mission. We’re searching for a highly motivated senior manager who is not afraid to bring fresh ideas to the table.

The role of the Senior Manager, Social Media will provide direct support to the Director of Social and Growth to execute cross-channel media campaign planning and activation across multiple campaign and program initiatives. This role manages the functions involved in organic social specifically and manages campaign planning, execution/trafficking, creative best practices, and partnering with internal teams, vendors, and social platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, launch, and analyze organic social campaigns including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and LinkedIn across multiple programs
  • Help set objectives and KPIs, working closely with internal data science team to measure the success and impact of social efforts across channels and continuously improve performance through analysis and insights
  • Handle daily campaign management, including monitoring tracking optimizations and escalating issues
  • Review and quality-check all social media content before trafficking or posting organically on owned channels
  • Bring expertise on emerging platforms, monitor and implement social media trends
  • Serve as cross-functional partner to internal teams so that our social strategy is in alignment with other team goals/KPIs
  • Help implement influencer marketing strategy with internal marketing and PR teams
  • Work closely with creative and production team to create and optimize content for social
  • Contribute to constantly developing and sophisticating our approach to social
  • Conduct competitive research and compile industry information when appropriate and needed, all while maintaining data/reports for future use
  • Demonstrate a collaborative, hard-working, team spirit

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of paid media buying experience, ideally at a media agency or publisher
  • BS/BA degree in Communications, or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Keen understanding of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snap, Pinterest, YouTube
  • An understanding of engaging storytelling on each social channel
  • Experience working with social insights tools: Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Instagram Insights, Twitter Insights, SproutSocial, Snaplytics, Iconosquare, BuzzSumo, or similar tools
  • Detail-oriented, team player with creative problem solving and excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility + time management: ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and take responsibility for deadlines
  • Self-starter
  • Startup experience is a plus
