Communications and Development Coordinator

New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia (NSM) is an interfaith, multicultural immigrant justice organization working to build power, develop leadership, accompany families facing deportation and fight grassroots campaigns in order to change the balance of power and create a more welcoming and just city and country.   Our current campaigns are Sanctuary campaign, Driver’s licenses in PA, Immigration Reform, and restricting ICE’s access to Philadelphia agencies.  Find out more at www.sanctuaryphiladelphia.org. 

The Development and Communication Coordinator plays a critical role building our faith-based grassroots movement for immigrant justice.  Working closely with organizers and Promotores, they will implement a communications strategy to amplify the impact of NSM’s campaigns as well as share critical information, like Deportation Defense or Know Your Rights, for the immigrant community.  They will work with the Co-Director to plan fundraising strategies, maintain and build our base of individual donors, and write grants.

Responsibilities include:

• Plan and implement fundraising strategy
• Cultivate current monthly and major donors as well as build new donors
• Write and oversee annual mailings including, the annual mailer, appeal and tax-deductible donation receipts
•  Write grants 
• Plan and implement a communications strategy
• E-newsletters and email action/campaign alerts
• Social media: Facebook, Instagram & Twitter
• Website content generation
• Manage database (Powerbase), including data entry and cleaning, report generation, event registration form maintenance, etc.

Qualifications:

• Strong written and verbal communication. Readiness to work in multilingual spaces with a range of digital literacy levels
• Minimum of 2 years of fundraising experience
• Basic graphic design skills, familiarity with programs such as Canva, Illustrator, WordPress
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Comfortable in the language and life of faith, openness to a variety of religious experiences and aware of one’s own faith journey
• Passionate about immigrant justice and a commitment to building movements and work environments that counter racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia and sexism
• Highly motivated and independent worker
• Desire to learn, grow and be challenged
• Ability to work as part of a team in a growing organization
• Experience with community organizing
