Math Teacher

Departmentalized; Grades 5 & 6


  • Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, curriculum (Eureka Math), content, and pedagogy
  • Set instructional outcomes
  • Design student assessments
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport
  • Establish a culture of learning
  • Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
  • Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students
  • Engage students in learning with quality questioning and discussion techniques
  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
  • Use student data to inform instruction and integrate differentiated instruction
  • Engaging parents and families in their child’s academic success by fostering an ongoing relationship centered around hopes and dreams
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date records
  • Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLC’s, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus based grade-level planning sessions
  • Reflect on teaching by accepting ongoing informal feedback and implements changes based on that feedback
  • Following school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00AM - 4:30PM)
  • Attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours


  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable subject area, as appropriate
  • Passing Praxis scores
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Common Core Shifts in Mathematics and Eureka Math Curriculum (preferred)
  • Demonstrates ability to use data to assess student learning, with evidence of growth
  • References that reflect high standing with past employer
  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours
