Position Title: Research Coordinator

Reporting To: Kinship Care Program Manager and the Primary Research Investigator

Position Type: Part-time (~20 hours/week) with potential to become full-time within 6 months


Organizational Overview: HALOS provides support and resources to grandparents and other relatives raising children in the absence of their biological parents. Currently due to COVID-19, HALOS organizational services are operating remotely. This position will also work remotely until it is deemed appropriate for staff to return to the office setting.   


Position Description: The Research Coordinator will collect, coordinate, and manage all data. They will be responsible for the organization, maintenance, and accuracy of data for all project related databases. Develop and revise forms used for data collection and reporting to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the program data. Ensure all activities are completed within the specified timeline.  Additionally, they will coordinate study and recruitment activities, including participant call schedules and collection of follow-up data. Attend scheduled meetings; abide by and meet all division requirements and objectives; conduct other administrative duties as assigned by supervisor.


Eligibility Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Applicants will need to be comfortable working with adults and diverse populations, as well as visiting home settings. Ability to interact and communicate with others effectively and non-judgmentally is essential. Must have at least one year of experience in assisting or managing research projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint). Valid SC Driver's license and proof of insurance required.


Duties and Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

Preparation of interviews for transcription services

Creation of code book

Coding of interviews

Literature reviews

Survey creation in Redcap

Creating reference pages

Creation of SPSS databases

Participant reminder calls

Maintaining participant scheduling

Participant interviewing

Maintaining regulatory materials and IRB compliance

Preparation of training materials

Contact referred families, coordinate home visits, conduct assessments and make referrals to services to meet identified needs.

Track follow-up and maintain case records accordingly to be reported on a weekly basis.

Compile, maintain and report on the monthly, quarterly, and annual program statistics for distribution to stakeholders and the public.

Research best practices related to kinship care and relative caregiver support programs.

Flexibility and an ability to alter course quickly in response to new information.      

Ability to demonstrate self-awareness in any and all situations that may be a direct or indirect reflection of HALOS and/or MUSC.      

Ability to plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals.

Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.   

A strong work ethic.

Minimal supervision; must be able to work independently.


Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
