This position is located in New York, NY and, reporting to the Executive Director of Metro NY EMBA Programs, is focused on supporting the academic and program needs of students and faculty participating in the Cornell Executive MBA Metro NY Program. 

Duties involve a range of processes and functions, some of which require collaboration and coordination with other EMBA program staff, staff in other Johnson School departments, staff in offices around Cornell, and external vendors. The Manager of Program Services works closely with the Executive Director, faculty and students and serves as the primary point of contact for all academic needs including, but not limited to: managing the production and distribution of academic materials, managing course Blackboard sites, coordinating the hiring of teaching assistants (TA) on an as needed basis, assisting faculty with preparing for class sessions, assisting with the collection of course deliverables, supporting the process of distributing grades to students, and designing/reviewing/updating teaching schedules for the program. In addition, the Manager of Program Services coordinates academic space needs at the Palisades facility and during residence weeks at the Ithaca main campus. The Manager of Program Services is also the initial point of contact to troubleshoot any problems of an academic nature.

As the primary contact for academics, the Manager of Program Services plays an important role as one of the public faces of the program. As such, attendance at all residential programs in Ithaca, NY and all class-weekends at Palisades is required (approximately 18 per year). The Manager of Program Services is heavily involved in staffing residence weeks (two weeks per calendar year) on the Ithaca campus. Factoring all support needs between Palisades and on campus in Ithaca, there is considerable night and weekend work.

The Manager of Program Services will periodically organize and attend special events and activities for current students and/or alumni in the NYC market. Such opportunities are critical to reinforce the face of the program role and provide important opportunities to connect with program participants about the EMBA Metro NY Program and help increase the Program’s market presence.

This position works closely with the Executive Director to budget and track expenditures for academic materials and looks for opportunities to increase effectiveness by adopting new technology-based solutions. The role also helps to manage expenditures for TAs and job related allowances (JRAs) paid to faculty traveling to teach at the Palisades facility.

Under general supervision, and in consultation with the Executive Director as needed, the Manager of Program Services resolves student issues and accomplishes tasks independently and efficiently with a high degree of responsiveness. The position requires significant attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously with a high degree of efficiency, an ability to manage unforeseen changes and requests, and the ability to maintain a calm, composed, and professional demeanor during high intensity periods.

Additional Duties:

  • Coordinates new student matriculation processes, including, but not limited to, managing data transfer from Admissions , handles student registration, and works with the Registrar and Information Technology Services.
  • Tracks all onboarding materials and updates policies and procedures for new students, as well as updates new student website content.
  • Manages annual student experience survey process from survey creation to distribution and departmental-wide reporting.
  • Collaborates with administrative leadership to help identify process inefficiencies and recommend strategic solutions.


  • Associate’s Degree; Two to four years of experience or equivalent.
  • The ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines is needed.
  • Ability to work weekends, travel and accommodate occasional overtime isrequired.


  • Bachelor's degree with four to five years of experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in academic program management, coordinating events or planning schedules plus experience in executive education is a plus.
