NLSLA’s work includes litigation, training, policy advocacy, technical assistance, and community education.
NLSLA is seeking an Intake Screener for Project imPACT, an innovative program geared towards increasing opportunities for justice-involved individuals to access employment, housing, legal services and other resources through the elimination of legal barriers resulting from prior contacts with the justice system. The candidate will be a skillful advocate who can excel in a fast paced, dynamic anti-poverty law practice. The candidate must have a demonstrated passion and commitment to Public Interest law and prior experience serving low-income individuals and client groups, with a sensitivity to those in crisis. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Availability: Open Immediately. Home office: Pacoima, CA or Glendale, CA

Duties and Responsibilities: The Intake Screener will be responsible for managing calls and intake(s) from Project imPACT partner agencies. The screener will be responsible for scheduling appointments with imPACT attorneys and entering all intake data into NLSLA’s case management systems. The screener will assist with collecting and maintaining project data and outcomes for reporting. The screener will be responsible for general administrative support to the Project imPACT team; including but not limited to, maintaining client files, ensuring that supplies are kept stocked and administrative equipment is functioning properly.
Minimum Qualifications: The Intake Screener must have the capacity to handle in-person and telephonic referrals from Project imPACT partner agencies. He/She must be dedicated to working with non-profit public interest organizations and have the ability to work independently with moderate supervision and effectively multi-task day to day duties. The screener must have excellent interpersonal and computer skills as well as, the ability to problem-solve and exhibit patience and sensitivity with people in crises. Qualified candidates must have B.A. or B.S. degree with strong communication skills (oral/written), and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required. Experience working with low-income individuals and families strongly preferred.

Level of Language Proficiency
