Friendship Place offers the most effective model for addressing homelessness with innovative, customized programs that have positive, demonstrable results and a lasting impact on the community and beyond. Our programs are person-centric and individualized to meet the needs and goals of individuals, families, youth/young adults and Veterans experiencing homelessness. We provide outreach, hospitality, health care, case management, housing, job placement services, and advocacy.
Summary of Position:
The Brooks is a site-based short-term family housing (STFH) program that provides services to families experiencing homelessness in the District of Columbia. The program consists of 50 units of short-term housing in Ward 3 of the District of Columbia. The program follows a Housing First model philosophy and utilizes best-practices to ensure that participants receive quality supportive services that support the transition to stable housing within 90-days of program entry. The Case Management (CM) Supervisor oversees personnel assigned to providing case management, housing, and supportive services to residents of The Brooks during their enrollment in the program. The CM Supervisor works collaboratively with the team in supporting residents in identifying and achieving goals that support housing acquisition, housing transition, and housing stabilization. As the program is funded by the DC Department of Human Services, the position will also engage with DHS STFH Program staff related to case conferencing, housing, and system-level collaboration. The position will work collaboratively with the Division Director, Social Worker, and Operations Team to achieve established outcomes and deliverables.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
A) Management/Supervisory Responsibilities
· Foster an inclusive, transparent, and innovative environment that provides quality services to participants while promoting the health, well-being, and professional development of staff
· Provide day-to-day supervision and engagement through instructive mentorship, coaching, and guidance to all assigned personnel
· Complete and maintain required supervisory notes (including performance, coaching, conduct, and other necessary documents)
· Accomplish program objectives by managing staff, including communicating job expectations; staff development, goal setting; monitoring and appraising job performance; and communicating employee performance
· Assists Division Director in conducting staff meetings, training, and annual retreats
· Assists Division Director with recruitment and hiring process for new employees and coordinates orientation and training schedules
B) Program/Service Delivery Responsibilities
· Ensure best-practices and person-centered supportive services through all program expressions to meet the goal of supporting families to stable housing within 90-days of program entry
· Collaborate with external agencies providing services to participants, including community organizations, government agencies, etc
· Participate in multidisciplinary and contract required meetings as scheduled (Family CAHP, DHS roundtables, etc)
· Ensure timely and accurate data recording of direct reports through all required platforms (HMIS, STEP, CATCH, etc.) and documentation formats (case notes, UIR, Housing Stabilization and Exit Plans, Assessments) per contract requirements and program policy and procedure.
· Demonstrate empathy and flexibility in responding to participant needs and engages in creative conflict resolution and crisis de-escalation to support participants
· Ensure services are accessible and offered to clients as needed by public, private or community partners: physical health care, mental health care, substance abuse/recovery services, education/life skills, legal services, etc
· Collaborates in ensuring a daily log is complete and submitted regarding all shelter activities and information to DHS (per contract guidelines)
· Participate in management meetings, team trainings, retreats, and strategizing other programming for the team. (Including shared leadership of program meetings)
· Complete administrative management responsibilities for the team, including monthly and quarterly reports, other modes of measurement and evaluation of the program, and other administrative tasks as assigned (other reporting as assigned)
· Conduct intakes and assessments to determine strengths, barriers, eligibility, and goals of each participant household
· Ensure the connection and timely referral to relevant service providers, including primary health care, behavioral health
· Perform all other duties as assigned
Education/Experiences
· Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related discipline (minimum requirement)
· License or license eligible in Social Work, Counseling, or similar discipline highly preferred
· Possess professional knowledge of the theories, principles, techniques, and practices of social service delivery systems
· Five (5) years of professional experience providing counseling and/or case management services to individuals/families
experiencing homelessness or other related populations, as well as knowledge of child development and effective programming for children (minimum requirement)
· A minimum of 7 years of professional experience providing counseling and case management services to individuals/families experiencing homelessness or other related populations, as well as knowledge of child development and effective programming for children (in lieu of education requirement)
· One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred

· Strong knowledge of human development, empowerment, and solution-focused principles
· Understanding of evidence-based practices in case management services, homeless services, trauma-informed care, Housing First, and recovery-oriented services
· Experience with families, youth, and housing systems
· Experience with additions, mental health, and co-occurring disorders
· Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
· Experience with Customer Assessment, Tracking and Case History (CATCH) and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is a plus
· Strong commitment to mission, organizational core values, including racial equity, social justice, and cultural competency/sensitivity
· Excellent Customer Service
· Ability to create a familial and nurturing environment among staff and participants, experience with leading and motivating teams
