The Communications Manager is directly responsible for all content production for external audiences, including evaluating existing content, anticipating new and ongoing needs, and spearheading the production of compelling deliverables to meet those needs. The Communications Manager reports to the Chief Communications Officer and works closely with development staff, internal and external researchers, consultants, and members of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that all external products are aligned with our messaging guidelines and serve key organizational objectives, elevating awareness of our work among target audiences and increasing financial support. This position requires exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to translate complex and diverse data sets into powerful narratives and visuals. The ideal candidate is a skilled project manager and executor with strong organizational skills and a keen eye for design. 

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Partner with the Chief Communications Officer to strategize, develop, and execute GALvanize’s editorial calendar
  • Maintain a centralized messaging infrastructure that organizes core narrative elements and supporting data
  • Produce compelling written, visual, and interactive content including - but not limited to - op-eds, memos, blog posts, reports, newsletters, videos, and speeches
  • Develop impactful presentations for external audiences, including presentations and briefings for funders, partners, and more
  • Equip GALvanize champions, including the Advisory Board, to be strong ambassadors of the GALvanize message and brand
  • Quickly and effectively tailor key messages for relevant audiences, using appropriate media
  • Proofread all external communications for consistency and errors
  • All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets
  • Perform other duties as needed

We are seeking candidates who are excellent project managers, energetic, creative, and passionate about unlocking the power of women to advance progress for all. You should have:

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience working in communications and/or development for advocacy and/or electoral campaigns
  • Experience with stakeholder communications, such as board management/communications
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional writing, copy-editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong message instincts and a demonstrated commitment to message and brand discipline
  • Excellent visual and verbal storytelling abilities, particularly with data visualization
  • Proficiency with presentation applications, preferably Google Slides
  • Strong project manager who can coordinate several projects in various stages of development
  • Creative, collaborative, innovative, and fun
  • Proficiency in and/or the ability to independently master G Suite, Microsoft tools, Slack, Asana, MailChimp, and EveryAction

Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Ability 

  • Experience with video production tools
  • Fluency with social media platforms and management tools
  • Basic coding, data analytics, and search optimization skills
  • Media relations experience, including pitching and writing press releases, op-eds, and other materials
