The Development Services Manager is an integral member of the Development Services team within Institutional Advancement. This position is responsible for the management of overall development systems including gift processing, reporting, and timely entry of gift and constituent information. Additionally, this position provides effective support and training for all staff on Raiser’s Edge, departmental e-philanthropy and communications systems. This role works closely with the accounting team to ensure that gifts are properly coded and that data is accurately transferred between the fundraising and financial databases. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Development Services and manages the Development Assistant role.


  • Working closely with the Senior Manager of Development Services, assist with creating strategy, refining policies and documenting procedures to ensure efficient use of the Raiser’s Edge database and other e-philanthropy and communications systems.
  • Oversee all gift and pledge processing for department.
  • Reconcile gifts/pledges with Finance Department and liaise with finance during financial audits to ensure that gift data is properly coded and then transferred to the accounting software and systems.
  • Create and run complex queries, exports and reports to support fundraising efforts, for staff and volunteer use.
  • Create and implement data oversight functions, such as regular audit reports, and train staff to ensure a high standard of “clean” data is being maintained. 
  • Coordinate monthly operations/production schedule with the Development Services team to ensure timely delivery of reports and fulfillment of data requests within Institutional Advancement.
  • Coordinate with IT to ensure regular back-up of The Raiser’s Edge and troubleshoot database issues for the department.
  • Actively participate as an integrated member of the Institutional Advancement team; attend donor events and museum activities as appropriate.
  • Ensure effective use of Raiser’s Edge as a tool for management of Annual and Capital Campaigns.
  • Manage Development Assistant role including workload management, creation of annual work-plan and providing performance feedback as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of experience in a development office environment, non-profit setting, managing an integrated CRM database, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge (or equivalent like Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite and accounting/budgeting software systems; G Suite, JIRA Project Management system preferred.
  • Proven effective use of information systems in support of Development programs.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and deadlines with demonstrated initiative in carrying out responsibilities.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills including ability to prioritize work and multi-task.
  • Works well under pressure in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent, well-rounded written and verbal communication skills. Experience in answering inquiries and requests in a friendly and direct manner. 
  • Ability to train individuals and teams on development database usage and best practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Supervisory/management experience a plus.  
  • Ability to move from place to place; use a computer for extended periods; able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds short distance; can bend, twist, reach, and grasp.
