We are seeking a Grants Manager who will join our finance team to provide financial and accounting support to the organization for grants management of all grant resources received (private and public) and to ensure compliance with donor regulations.  This position will support the organization’s capacity to manage public grant awards (USAID, UN, DFID, ECHO, EU, World Bank, Global Fund, etc.) and will be responsible for the tracking and accounting for grants throughout their life cycle.  This position should be familiar with NICRAs, USAID draw downs, and the Super Circular dated 12/26/14.  This position will also complete other assigned tasks within the Accounting team.

Finance/Accounting oversight of Grants received

  • Public (USAID, other USG agencies, UN, DFID, EU, ECHO, World Bank, Global Fund, etc.)
  • + ensure grant expenses, revenue, ICR and other components are properly accounted for
  • + assist Program with gathering financial data, for comparison to budget and reporting
  • Private (Foundations and Corporate) work with Program and Development to achieve the same as listed above in public grants, but for private grants
  • Review monthly grant finance reports
  • Track grant receipts
  • Review monthly effort reporting and timekeeping charges

Subgrant Management

  • Work with Program and IT to develop and maintain a grants management database
  • Work with Program and COs on subgrant monitoring

Annual Fiscal Year-end and Quarterly Grants Management

  • Ensure a clean A133 audit every year
  • Prepare effort reporting adjustments
  • Prepare grants entries for receivables and payables
  • Assist in the quarterly Finance Committee packages as well as the Board packages related to grants
  • Assist CFO in preparing and submitting annual NICRA


  • Ensure compliance with all grants donors by providing up to date effective training to HQ Program, Development and Finance and all COs, especially around US Government funding including the Super Circular dated 12/26/14
  • Function as organization expert on US Government rules and regulations
  • Become a source of Grants Financial support for all other organizational units
  • Work with Program and IT to develop and train personnel in the use of Grants Management and Subgrant systems

Other Assignments

  • Assist in the completion of other accounting tasks, as assigned

Must Have Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting
  • 5+ nonprofit experience and a track record that includes Federal grant rules and regulations and other public grant donors, cost tracking, NICRA rate and A133 audit processes
  • 5+ nonprofit experience creating and delivering grants management training
  • Experience with grants management and subgrant financial software systems required
  • Attention to detail and ability to work to defined specifications
  • Experience with grants management software such as MIP or others
  • Excellent analysis and observation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication, management and personnel skills
  • Outstanding systems/technical skills which includes MS Office and mastery in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States and ability and desire to travel internationally
