PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will work at two affordable housing communities in the Twin Cities metro area: Garden View Apartments in New Brighton and Ames Lake Neighborhood in St. Paul.


Essential Functions:

  • Direct community space and provide services to residents of two affordable housing communities
  • Organize resident events
  • Provide ongoing resident information and referral services
  • Compose monthly newsletters highlighting community events and resources
  • Work with community partners and other agencies to serve residents
  • Supervise K-8th grade youth in age-appropriate activities
  • Lead Ames After Hours Group in the afternoon during the school year
  • Assist with Ames Lake Summer Camp programming during summer 
  • Provide safe and enjoyable experience to all program participants
  • Develop daily curriculum for teen programming
  • Supervise and support volunteers


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field
  • Availability to work afternoon and evening hours with occasional weekends 
  • Experience working with youth in a group setting
  • Ability and interest in working with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Self-directed, motivated, organized, creative and energetic
  • Strong communication and mediation skills
  • Experience with program design, development implementation and evaluation
  • Interest in building relationships with youth and families
  • Ability to travel within the Twin Cities metro is required, must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


Physical Demands:

Ability to perform a variety of physical activities with program participants which may include, but is not limited to walking, standing for long periods of time, running, throwing, swimming, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
