The Arc of Northern Virginia Personal Support Trust is for people with disabilities in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. We manage special needs trusts; KeyBank is our trustee. We are experts in disability policy and in finance. We know, care for and understand people with disabilities. Serving the community is our mission. We assist our clients to disburse funds from their trusts to meet their needs and support their quality of life.

Hours:  20 hours/week - currently telework; eventually hybrid

Supervisor:  Account Manager

Job Overview:  To provide effective Disbursement Management and database support by ensuring timely and effective follow through, communication, and excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES     

Act as primary point of contact for disbursements of our Trust Clients

o  Review, query, submit for approval, and maintain orderly disbursement files

o  Pursue required documentation, notify beneficiaries of any denials

o  Scan and save disbursement information, develop folders in database

o  Enter, track and monitor all services and payments in database

o  Conduct verbal and written communication with Trustee

o  Create budget with Beneficiaries of funded SNTs

o  Manage Beneficiary credit/debit card accounts

o Good understanding of public benefit programs

o Build long-term relationships with clients, professionals, and the community

o Address and resolve client issues quickly and effectively, encouraging good customer service practices

Additional Responsibilities:            

·      Attend advocacy, community, and education events to raise awareness of the Special Needs Trust program and services - hybrid

·      Participate in monthly Arc team meetings and weekly Trust department meetings

·      Maintain a neat, well-organized work space when at office

·      Other tasks and duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Skilled in Database Management
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills in English
  • Strong ability to work independently and take initiative
  • 1-3 years professional work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • The candidate needs to have a good understanding of means-tested government benefits and disability systems; or be a fast learner. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Meaningful professional and personal experience with people with disabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field

Special Requirements:

o The candidate selected for this position will be required to complete a Child Protective Services Registry and a Criminal Background check to the satisfaction of The Arc of Northern Virginia; fingerprinting also required.
