We are hiring a Program Associate

JYCA currently runs programs on the San Francisco Peninsula, in the East Bay, and regionally. We are looking for a Program Associate to support our three existing programs through facilitation, recruitment, and maintaining youth relationships. One of the key responsibilities of this position will be to support our Jews Against Marginalization program, a cohort for Jewish youth of color and Sephardi and Mizrahi youth, with our Director of Programs.

In collaboration with Programs team, these are your core job responsibilities:

  • Support/train youth leaders to facilitate all of JYCA’s popular education programming
  • Develop political partnerships for campaigns and coalition work and partnerships with other Jewish and youth organizations 
  • Outreach to and recruit youth to participate in all of JYCA’s programs 
  • Travel regularly to San Francisco and the Peninsula to fulfill work duties
  • Modify curriculum based on youth feedback and interest
  • Complete all preparation, facilitation and assessment for programs
  • Collaborate with the program staff, development and admin teams at JYCA
  • Offer one-on-one mentorship and support to youth participants  
  • Do administrative tasks related to the program
  • Create communication related to the programs including social media, newsletters etc. 
  • Coordinate and support of youth leaders to facilitate JYCA programming including:
  • Leadership and political trainings (Every other Sunday September-December, every Sunday January-June)
  • Three to five shabbaton weekend retreats throughout the school year
  • Community activism projects throughout the year on weekdays, and weekends
  • Regular planning meetings with youth committees afterschool and in the evening

Priority Skills and Experiences:

  • Deeply committed to social, racial, economic, and gender justice 
  • Skilled in facilitating workshops, meetings and group decision-making
  • Experience organizing or running programming with Jews of Color and Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews
  • Comfortable making program pivots to respond to political moments or community needs
  • Skilled in project management and time management across multiple teams and projects
  • Committed to building the power of youth and enjoys working with teens
  • You do not need to be an expert in Jewish ritual to hold this position. What is required is familiarity with Jewish culture and/or a willingness to learn how to lead songs and ritual
  • Concise and compelling writer across different mediums
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders including funders, organizers, parents, board members, and teens; Comfort navigating a variety of professional settings, including some that may not feel like your “own”

BONUS Skills And Experience:

  • Experience working with teens
  • Deep knowledge of Jewish ritual and history
  • Networks in the Peninsula community, especially the teen landscape 
  • Knowledge and experience facilitating different learning styles and using various pedagogies and modalities (theater of the oppressed, arts-based activism, etc.)

This is an hourly non-exempt position with a salary range of $23/hr-$30/hr
