Accounting Manager

Founded in 2016, Oakland Promise is a citywide movement with over 50 implementation partners working towards our common vision. Oakland Promise supports children and families from birth through college and career to ensure that postsecondary success is a reality for all Oaklanders. Oakland Promise includes four programs: Brilliant Baby, Kindergarten to College (K2C), College Access, and College Scholarships and Completion, that provide a cradle to career continuum of college-focused supports for students. Our goal is to dramatically increase the number of college graduates from Oakland and ensure that all students hold a college-bound identity. Job Purpose:
Oakland Promise seeks a detail-oriented and passionate Accounting Manager with strong accounting
and analytical skills. This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Finance and Reporting. This is a full-time role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management.
1. Maintain and record all gifts and receivables in the system.
2. Makes bank deposits.
3. Process all payments in the banking portal or print checks as required.
4. Manage month-end close process, including entering, reviewing, and posting journals and
balance sheet reconciliations.
5. Oversee cash flow management daily including cash monitoring, deposits, investment accounts,
and bank transfers.
6. Work in conjunction with the Finance Director to ensure a clean audit and tax return.
7. Reconcile the retirement account.
8. Reconciliation of cash and key accounts.
9. Manage corporate credit cards, corporate accounts like PayPal, Amazon, etc. including
statement reconciliation.
10. Review expense reports to ensure authorization and policy compliance.
11. Generates and tracks invoices as necessary.
12. Support the annual and program audit for the organization.
13. Ensuring insurance and other contracts and renewed and maintained.
14. Work with Finance Director to file routine government documents.
15. Responsible for 1099 filings.
16. Be an admin user for Netsuite
17. Other accounting and finance projects as assigned
18. Maintain an orderly filing system.
19. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting with at least 5 years of experience in a financial role, preferably
in evaluations and measurements.
2. CPA preferable.
3. Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting.
4. Experience using NetSuite and Salesforce is preferable.
5. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
6. Strong attention to detail and a team player.
