At the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, our mission is to train journalists and media professionals at all stages of their career. Reporting to the Associate Director, Professional Development, the administrative assistant will provide administrative and finance operations support that advance the continuing education programs at the Newmark J-School.


This position is 100% remote. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with preparation of purchase requests, tracking instructor payments, and tracking tuition payments. 
  • Preparing forms and invoices for instructors, participants, vendors, and the finance department. 
  • Assisting with data entry and supporting the Associate Director and J+ Program Directors on miscellaneous administrative tasks.


You will have: 

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and technology skills  
  • Experience supporting the finance operations of a large organization
  • Internet research and data entry skills (Excel & Google Spreadsheets)
  • Experience managing confidential information


A preferred candidate will have:

  • Two years experience supporting the finance operations of a large organization


What you can expect:

  • We are a small, nimble team passionate about the transformation of the journalism industry, and you will have extensive opportunities to work on exciting initiatives 
  • This position is based in NYC but, for the duration of the contract, will work remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Applicants must be based in the U.S. 
  • While many coordination meetings or external events will take place between 9 am ET and 5 pm ET, there is flexibility in scheduling your other tasks.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • 10 hours a week for an hourly rate of $25 ($1,000 per month, paid monthly)
  • There are no benefits
  • Three-month contract with possibility of extension
