Student Leadership Network is seeking a Manager of Marketing and Communications who will be responsible for delivering on the organizations day-to-day internal and external marketing and communications needs. The position will focus on both supporting the organizations mission and increasing its prominence in the education non-profit sector.  The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who is both highly collaborative and can work well independently. A passion for ensuring that all young women and men receive the college education they deserve is a must. This position reports to the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

 Manage Marketing and Communications Content and Materials

  • Prepare and distribute communication materials and promotional documents in a variety of print and digital formats
  • Coordinate and manage all public relations and media opportunities including press materials, internal briefings and talking points
  • Execute both short and long term marketing campaigns and digital initiatives
  • Maintain timely updates and enhancements to all fact sheets, brochures and associated materials
  • Provide support with presentations, speech writing and meeting packet preparation
  • Partner with the development team on fundraising proposals and appeals
  • Create and maintain monthly content calendar and quarterly newsletter
  • Manage all e-marketing via Constant Contact and/or similar service
  • Maintain photo and video library as well as organization wide mailing lists
  • Support the design, production and distribution of program specific materials and collateral

Manage Online Presence, Website, and Social Media Platforms

  • Manage and maintain social media channels
  • Ensure accuracy of location listings and ratings
  • Manage organizations website by creating fresh content and regularly updating donor recognition, bios, blog and program descriptions
  • Develop strategies to engage more people and grow new audiences and channels for brand development and fundraising
  • Use Google Analytics and other tools to measure and report on the performance of all digital campaigns, as well as to use website traffic/usage activity and recommend any adjustment

Marketing and Communications Support

  • Schedule and plan marketing team meetings
  • Collaborate with designer and social media expert to provide assets
  • Source and manage media engagement opportunities
  • Ensure brand resources are up-to-date, shared and filed appropriately
  • Conduct landscape analysis to inform business decisions
  • Additional duties as assigned

Key Qualifications, Skills and Core Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, business or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a communications, marketing, development or fundraising role with strong writing requirements
  • Must have experience in communications and marketing, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Exceptional  verbal, writing, editing, and organizational skills a MUST
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills, along with creativity, vision, and sense of humor
  • Experience with marketing campaigns on social media
  • Proven experience in identifying target audiences and developing creative marketing campaigns that inspire, educate, and motivate
  • Experience managing multiple social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) for an organization and/or public campaign
  • Salesforce and WordPress experience is a strong plus
  • Intermediate-advanced knowledge of MS Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with databases, web-based tools, CRM/CMS, and analytics tools
  • Work well under pressure in a professional and positive manner across teams
  • Skills in developing, building, and maintaining a brand with key stakeholder groups, preferably in both corporate and nonprofit and/or public policy settings
  • Ability to manage aggressive deadlines, maintaining meticulous attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to distill complex organizational information into convincing and engaging copy
  • Ability to write quickly in a variety of voices and formats
  • Basic graphic design skills strongly preferred
