The Student Engagement Officer serves as ISEP brand ambassador and recruiter for a designated group of U.S. institutions with a focus on promoting ISEP brand awareness with student organizations, ISEP Ambassadors, international office staff and social media on campuses with high potential for participation in ISEP programs. The Engagement Officer is directly responsible for generating interest and recruiting students to participate in ISEP study abroad programs.


Internal: Director of Student Engagement, Communications & Marketing Department, Enrollment Management Department, Member Relations Department

External: Student organizations and clubs, ISEP Ambassadors, ISEP Coordinators, faculty members and other institutional contacts at assigned U.S. member institutions


·       Develop and implement a student recruitment strategy for institutions within a specified portfolio

to meet defined participant numbers and revenue targets 

·       Visit institutions, develop events, initiate contact and follow up with students directly to increase

participation in ISEP programs 

·       Regularly report on engagement at institutions within specified region of the United States

·       Serve as initial student advisor and point of contact for student questions about ISEP programs,

the application process and other procedural inquiries from students and coordinators

·       Promote the ISEP brand to the campus community and create digital content to personalize


·       Create a strong social media presence which reflects ISEP values and mission.


·       Train new members and new coordinators in ISEP procedures and protocol 

·       Provide feedback to Member Relations team about student demand for programs, their

concerns, and challenges with recruitment 

·       Provide feedback to Communications & Marketing Department to ensure that messages and

collateral are meeting student needs

·       Create and update member profiles tracking campus-specific international mobility trends,

program portfolios and student groups

·       Develop market information about competing programs

·       Provide periodic reports on progress toward meeting goals

·       Engage in regional/national meetings as a presenter or volunteer


The Engagement Officer represents ISEP at local and industry meetings, study abroad fairs and conferences to build brand awareness with relevant parties. The position involves travel to current and prospective members to advance the ISEP mission and reinforce the ISEP brand and messaging. Other travel relevant to the job as needed.


·       Bachelor’s degree 

·       Two or more years work experience in outside sales, international education, study abroad,

international program administration, or related areas

·       Travel, study and/or work experience abroad 

·       Understanding of how to effectively market an organization’s brand with pertinent populations

·       Ability to define and conduct market research, and to collect and interpret data to inform

program development

·       Experience with articulating and executing a sales strategy

·       Excellent communication skills and strong engagement in social media

·       Ability to travel up to 20% to 80% time, depending on seasonal demand, including overnight

travel and other more extensive trips

·       Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license and have the ability to drive for several hours at a time


·       Commitment to education and personal belief in the power of bilingualism, cultural competency,

global citizenship and how study abroad is integral to achieving these objectives

·       Experience in student government or student organization leadership

·       Willingness to work non-traditional hours and experience organizing and hosting student events

·       Digital storytelling and/or video production experience
