POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as the High School Academic Coordinator.  The Coordinator responsible for designing, planning, and implementing high-quality academic and enrichment programming to support high school students’ success with current coursework, advancement toward graduation, and personal development toward their life goals. The Coordinator manages school partnerships, high school recruitment and facilitates career exposure and engagement opportunities to support students’ interests and post-secondary goals. The Coordinator will plan and conduct daily sessions, track student progress, actively communicate with teachers and parents/guardians, lead field trips, and recruit/match/manage volunteers and mentors. This position reports to the Director of Education. 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the academic and enrichment program to support high school students’ success with current coursework, advancement toward graduation, and personal development
  • Create an engaging and encouraging environment for youth development, and strong, supportive relationships with students and parents/families
  • Develop and deliver career exposure activities (classroom lessons, field trips, presenters/panels, mentorships, and job placements) and opportunities (career exposure events, mentoring, shadow days, internships, job placements) appropriate to each grade level
  • Assist students in pursuing internship and job opportunities matched to their field(s) of their interest and post-secondary goals
  • In collaboration with the Director of Education, plan college readiness activities (i.e., test prep, college search), support implementation and monitoring of individual college plans 
  • Plan and chaperone annual college campus visits at each grade level
  • Lead the recruitment of new high school students to SquashWise each year and proactively work to retain students in the program 
  • Identify, select, and lead placement at summer academic enrichment programs for high school students
  • Track student academic performance, program attendance, timeliness, and preparation daily and report on key performance indicators
  • Train, organize, and manage volunteer tutors to support the high school academic program 
  • Plan and work collaboratively with squash staff to ensure alignment between squash and educational program activities
  • Participate in weekend activities, including community service projects, squash matches, cultural outings, and other field trips as needed
  • Assist with driving students to and from program activities as needed
  • Demonstrate commitment to learning and growing skill-sets in anti-racism and equity through literature, training, and reflections with the team
  • Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as needed

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION 

  • Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s or higher preferred in education or related field 
  • At least 1-3 years prior professional experience in youth development, education, or social work 
  • Teaching experience or curriculum development preferred
  • Experience training and managing academic volunteers preferred
  • CPR/First Aid and AED certification  (SquashWise provide will)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience
  • Must pass a criminal history background check and driving record check

  • Strong professional work ethic
