The Program Assistant supports Phoenix Bikes’ dynamic, year-round youth development programming for ages 12 to 17 based out of a non-profit, community bicycle shop in Arlington, VA.
Program Support & Youth Development: Supports an innovative and creative education program for middle- and high school-age youth. Supervises hands-on learning sessions that build bike maintenance, safe bike riding, leadership, and life skills.
Volunteer Management: Develops and maintains an outreach strategy to recruit and retain volunteers to support programs. Manage volunteer on-boarding process, including leading monthly volunteer orientations and tracking registration paperwork. Lead weekly Volunteer Night on a rotating basis with other staff. Coordinate volunteers for annual fundraisers and special events and track volunteer metrics.
Operations: With the Shop Manager, ensures the community bike shop is a safe, clean, and well-organized space for youth participants, volunteers, and patrons. As community bike shop demands, assists with bike repairs and sales of refurbished bikes. Coordinate all logistics for bicycle donation pick ups and track donations within donor database. Assist with purchasing and tracking expenses for shop supplies/inventory.
Administrative & Financial Management: Handle daily banking and mail functions, including point of sale system reconciliation. Insert bi-weekly payroll information. Enter data into donor database in a timely manner. Assist with website updates and general IT support.
