Direct Care Workers are responsible for carrying out the daily routine, adhering to the program structure of routines, discipline, and the environment of the facility during the shift. They keep order, maintain the standards of care and assure high quality service o the youth. Understands the issues, responds with counseling techniques that demonstrate sensitivity toward the youth’s particular needs; manages the peer group, paying attention to peer group dynamics, intervening where necessary to keep order in the facility, promote positive interactions between peers and head off contentious interactions through counseling and mediation. Attends to medical issues, student educational/vocational needs, casework, clinical appointments, etc. Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required; Experience working with youth especially in the residential setting; Must possess valid state driver's license
An applicant for employment will not be hired if his or her driving record reflects any of the following infractions; some examples include but are not limited to:
• Suspended, revoked or otherwise invalid license
• Reckless , high risk or otherwise unsafe driving behavior within the past 3 years
• 6 or more points on license
IT IS A PLUS IF YOU:
Are Bilingual; Have knowledge of OCFS regulations and mandates ; Previous experience in: community organizing, political campaigns and/or customer service ; Have prior experience with the Juvenile Justice or Prison systems.
