 CDP is currently looking for a Manager for the Cities, States and Regions Team.  


Who you are 

  • You have a robust understanding of climate change and local governments and the link to the capital/finance markets. You have a solid understanding of how investment, financing and capital planning in local governments works   
  • You have 5-7 years’ experience working with local governments, climate action, financing and/or the capital markets  
  • You understand investment trends in ESG, and sustainable finance and the opportunity for local governments (cities and states-provinces) 
  • You have an understanding of how climate change, racial and social equity and environmental justice and financing in cities is linked; 
  • You are a strong communicator with the ability to draw out key messages from complex research for both internal and external audiences 
  • You are a high-level, strategic thinker who can also dive into the details 
  • You are delivery-oriented, with problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities and attention to detail  
  • You have a positive, collaborative and enthusiastic outlook 

 Your day-to-day 

  • You will manage CDP’s established portfolio of work with local governments in North America on financing climate action through improved disclosure and capacity building efforts (i.e. CDP’s Matchmaker program);  
  • You will build strong relationships with local governments in North America and investors, financial institutions and strategic partners; 
  • You will manage and implement workshops, webinars, and consultations with local governments in North America as well as the capital markets to increase financing of climate action  
  • You will lead on fundraising and partnership proposals to accelerate CDP’s work in financing climate action in local governments  
  • You will lead administrative and operational support for this portfolio of work including grant reporting requirements; 
  • You will oversee the development of data analysis and services/products that accelerate local governments capacity to finance climate action (i.e.CDP’s Matchmaker analytics platform); 
  • You will help to develop and implement CDP’s strategy on financing climate action for local governments in North America 
  • You will raise the profile of CDP’s work with local governments on financing through external presentations, workshops, and events  
  • You will represent CDP in strategic partnerships (ex: Cities Finance Leadership Alliance, Global Covenant of Mayors Technical Finance Working Group, etc) 
  • You will support the development of and help to manage new areas of work between the local governments and the capital markets on Task-Force Related Climate Disclosure and Investor-Requested Disclosure  
  • You will support other global regions in developing their capacity for finance-related program delivery;  
  • You may manage full-time and part-time staff   

Bonus points 

  • You have international experience, particularly working across different cultures, languages and time zones, would be preferred 
  • You have fluency in French (not required but beneficial given engagement in Canada)

  • Compensation. We offer a competitive NGO salary. The salary range for the Manager CSTAR role is $58,000 – $68,000 USD.
